What Dems and Trans Activists Did to Deerfield Girl is Just Plain AWFL

You hear that gruesome story of the 13-year-old middle-school girl from Deerfield confronted by school officials and ordered to disrobe in front of a male classmate?

It sounds too AWFL to be true.

But it happened, according to her mother Nicole Georgas who said Tuesday she was filing a police complaint with the police in Deerfield on top of a complaint she filed with the U.S. Department of Justice.

The mom alone standing up for her daughter’s privacy was repeatedly mocked and insulted by hostile trans activists as she addressed a crowded District 109 School Board meeting.

The story has gone viral world-wide and was broken by the Lake County Gazette and Dan Proft’s radio show “The Morning Answer.”

To understand this bizzarro world, please understand this:

Even though President Donald Trump has signed an executive order protecting girls’ privacy, and has vowed to cut federal education funding to rogue states, the Illinois Democrats are funded by billionaire Gov. JB Pritzker, who is the bankrupt state’s leading activist for transexuals.

And he’s running for president.

“The male student was present in the girls’ locker room,” Georges said at the school board meeting. “Feeling violated, the girls made the choice not change into their PE (physical education) clothes with a biological male present.”

The next day Georgas said, the officials at Alan B. Shepherd Middle School tried to bully a girls’ PE class into changing in front of the boy.

“(The administrators) all came into the girls locker room, making them change into uniform. This went on all week,” Georgas said. “My daughter refused to take part in her privacy being violated. How dare they!”

She said Shepard School Principal Rob Wegley told her daughter that any male student can use any girls’ bathroom or locker room at his school so long as they say claim to “identify as female.”

Georgas said Wegley told her this was the school policy as dictated by Ford and “legal counsel.” She said she has filed a civil rights complaint on behalf of her daughter with the U.S. Department of Justice.

Know too that even though Nicole Georgas’ story has gone viral world-wide, with world-famous women’s rights activist author J.K. Rowling and champion swimmer Riley Gaines championing the girls cause, it hasn’t gone viral in Chicago media. “I’d remove my daughter instantly from that school, then go full Nemesis,” Rowling posted on X.

Is that puzzling that the Chicago media would ignore such a story?

Then you don’t know politics.

I heard about this first by listening to Proft’s show.

My friend, conservative Dan Proft of Chicago’s Morning Answer has covered the story, and covered it well. He’s interviewed Nicole Georgas about her daughter and I link to that interview and his podcast here.

But crickets from other Chicago media. Why?

Are they afraid of Pritzker and his horde of trans activists?

The Chicago Tribune—where I worked for 40 years and was lead columnist and member of the editorial board—has ignored it. The newspaper’s political writer goes out of his way to bash Proft and curry favor with the establishment corporate left whenever they can—because that is the Combine’s paper–but is it wise for the Tribune to cede the issue and write off so many parents?

Apparently so.

Also, the Sun Times has ignored it.

Both newspapers capitulated to neo-Marxist George Soros long ago. So we’ve already established that they have bendable knees.

What has happened to Illinois where Gov. Pritzker can operate this way, even as he campaigns for president?

It was once a state of common sense, and the politics were all about common sense whether the Republicans of Abraham Lincoln or the Democrats under the Daleys.

Old man Daley  wouldn’t go broke promoting common sense. And Abe Lincoln was all about common sense.

But now?

The state is bankrupt, the public schools are atrocious, taxpayers are fleeing to seek opportunity. And in many areas, particularly wealthy suburbs like Deerfield, Downers Grove, Hinsdale, Western Springs and other such towns they are governed by AWFLs (Angry White Female Leftists).

And there is nothing more awful than the AWFLs.

You may have heard their sisters screaming in self-righteous rage at Jewish students during pro-Hamas protests at American universities.

From the river to the sea…

What happened to the men in those suburbs, the fathers?

They’re afraid. Afraid of the AWFLs. Afraid of saying one thing that would anger them, and cost them social status in their leafy suburbs that once sported those Hate Has No Home Here signs on the front lawn.

Or they’re in hiding.

In the wealthy suburbs the men (or the male impersonators who married those women) say little, lest they incur the wrath of the AWFLs.

These are corporate towns, and men in such towns are corporate types.

And in corporate suburban towns, whether in Loudon County, Virginia or Beverly Hills, California, or Martha’s Vineyard there is but one religion:

Social status.

And they would sacrifice anything to protect their social status.

Anything.

They would have their own sons castrated to protect their status. Perhaps they wonder why religious fundamentalists hate them so. Does it matter?

It was the Christian moralist C.S. Lewis, in “The Abolition of Man” who years ago mentioned something we should all consider today when wrestling with the idea of this silencing of parents and the castration or sterilization of little children.

The ones afraid to risk their social status by protecting their children from the ghouls of government schools who would castrate or sterilize young children.

They are the Men Without Chests.

“We make men without chests and expect from them virtue and enterprise. We laugh at honor and are shocked to find traitors in our midst,” wrote Lewis.

Some time ago after listening to Proft and while editing another column on this state of Illinois sanctioned child abuse, I quoted Helen Joyce, the journalist who was speaking about why it is so difficult for parents to move on after they’ve done what they’ve done.

Once they’ve done what they’ve done to their own minor children, there is no going back for them.

And I think her words are particularly apt today.

JOYCE: “Something you may not have thought of is that there are a lot of people who can’t move on from this. And that’s the people who have transitioned their own children.

So those people are going to be like the Japanese soldiers who were on Pacific islands and didn’t know the war was over. They’ve got to fight forever. This is another reason why this is the worst, worst, worst social contagion that we’ll ever have experienced.

“A lot of people have done what is the worst thing you could do, which is to harm their children irrevocably, because of it. Those people will have to believe that they did the right thing for the rest of their lives, for their own sanity, and for their own self-respect. So, they’ll still be fighting, and each one of those people destroys entire organizations and entire friendship groups.

“Like, I’ve lost count of the number of times that somebody has said to me of a specific organization that has been turned upside down on this, “Oh, the deputy director has a trans child.” Or, oh, the journalist on that paper who does special investigations has a trans child. Or whatever.”

“So those people are going to be the people who will keep this bloody movement going, I’m sorry to say, because they’ve everything to lose, and it is a fight to the death as far as they are concerned.”

What is required is for the activists to stop screaming and bullying that child, and all children and put their psycho-sexual politics aside. They might do us all a favor and eat their guilt and shame.

Just look at Pritzker. Politicians who promote the castration of children–and experiments I thought was once left to the demon once called Josef Mengele–are creatures I really don’t want to think about now. This is Lent. And they will have an eternity to contemplate their sins. And their cruelty to little children who are just too young to understand what adults–including their parents and teachers–are doing to them.

There are many long days of Lent, which are best spent praying and fasting, and avoiding blood curdling anger. As a Greek Orthodox Christian I think of our Jesus prayer at times like this to protect my soul from anger:

“Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me, a sinner”

And I think of our Lord who loved all the children. And those who didn’t love them were warned of their fate in the Bible:

“It were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and he cast into the sea, than that he should offend one of these little ones.”

Protect them oh Lord.

Please protect the little ones.

Read through the Sun-Times’ desperate headline and opening ‘graph spinning this issue (spin in caps): “FEDERAL complaints lodged against Chicago, Deerfield for ACCOMMODATING trans students” and “. . . mom says her teenage daughter was forced to change in front of a transgender classmate. ADVOCATES AND THE DISTRICT SAY IT ISN’T TRUE.”

        Another front page article cries out: “. . . Sun-Times to lose 20% of staff. . . .” Hmmm, why do you suppose the audience for the Sun-Times’ union guild journalism keeps moving toward zero?

  5. Mr. Kass, at 70 and with (still early) Alzheimer’s Disease, I likely will be with Jesus if our country finally reaches Critical Mass in its descent into darkness.

    This could be how it ends. Or (and I suspect more likely), the drain-circling current approval numbers for Democrats will continue. If so, there will be increasing defections of those who see the madness for what it is, and leave the party.

    I can do nothing to control it, so am not allowing myself to get too “bent out of shape” as the old saying goes.

  7. One wonders what reasoning power is left in the hearts and minds of the “powers that be” in those schools. I wonder if the members of the school board and the teachers and administration people all wear clothes to work or to school board meetings. Do those women walk around topless? Do the men shed their clothes and celebrate the joy of losing the restriction of clothes?

    Why would they tout modesty for themselves but not for the children. So they’ve provided 5 “privacy” changing rooms, but don’t require the intact member of the opposite sex, but rather expect a young girl with what is actually a “normal” sense of modesty to go slinking off.

    If those teachers, administrators and board members aren’t willing to put their bodies on display, why should the children be expected to do so? Come on, adults! Be the leaders you claim to be! Drop the pretense (and your drawers!) and at least lose the hypocrisy!

  8. How any parent could do this to a child is beyond comprehension. I was at a doctor’s office yesterday and they had CSPAN on the TV. Pritzker was being interviewed. Yup he’s running for president. If he’s the best the democrats can come up with then the party is truly doomed.

  9. John: the mention of Mengele is appropriate. This isn’t medical science. It’s caving to the delusions of children who are mentally ill and living in a culture increasingly unmoored from biological reality. Why can’t those in the field of psychology diagnose this for what it is: either misandry or misogyny depending on the sex of the child? How can a child come to hate his or her own sexual nature? Why is the pathological thinking of these children indulged by their elders?

    None of these so-called “treatments” should be allowed for young impressionable children until they turn 21. Treating sexual dysphoria as aberrant behavior and a form of self-inflicted mental disfigurement should become the standard in therapeutic treatment.

  10. Nicole Georgas’ daughter is learning a very valuable lesson from her mother about courage, bravery, and honor. This is precisely why school vouchers are needed. Our tax dollars should not be funding this ideology in any public school system.
    It is also not surprising that a woman who thinks she’s a man because she is taking testosterone pills to grow facial hair also is the mother of a trans child. The indoctrination starts at birth with these people who claim they are giving their children a choice when in fact, they are making the choice for their children.

    1. Vouchers alone may not solve the problem, the Deerfield school system is a good one, but good schools are not immune to woke politics.

      Maybe the solution is to provide more than 2 dressing rooms, adding one for those who identify differently from their external genitalia. Probably cheaper than the multi-million dollar lawsuits that are coming from families like the one here.

They will all answer for this child abuse in time, but since they do not believe in God, they are in for a rude awakening someday. Some will say the awakening will not come soon enough, but God works on His schedule, not anyone else’s. The nitwit administrators of that school should be charged with child abuse and all sentenced to prison and banned forever from contact with children. Let them get a job cleaning sanitary sewers. As the AWFLs, they have a strange way of supporting women’s rights, unless of course it is abortion, which is nothing more than the ultimate form of child abuse. Warm up the Moutza for these morons. More severe punishment is deserved, but as Christians we should leave that to the Lord, and as John points out, it is Lent. Let’s not sink to their level.

At least this modern day McCarthy-ism of males living and competing in female spaces and events is really “jumping the shark”, like this case, and should provide much needed influence on the public to get society back to biological reality as it relates to protecting females. I’m sickened every time I see one of my girls competing against broad shouldered people wearing baggy shorts (boys who have a proven biological advantage in height, strength, etc.) in sports. “Open” competitions are proliferating where they can compete without unfairly spoiling women’s sports.

    Hopefully this will further limit Gov Fat Boy Toilet’s putrid political career to only ruining IL rather than the entire nation. Unfortunately, IL is mostly too stupid (or “victims” looking for his free $$$ or whatever) to vote him out.

  16. I’m wondering if those who made the girls disrobe in front of the male tranny would themselves be willing to disrobe in front of a room full of transgenders and have it broadcasted on tv and social media? How could they object?
    One could imagine Pritzker doing the same but I firmly believe some eyesights would forever be impaired.
    This was wrong on so many levels. Having a young preteen granddaughter she is super sensitive about her body and the changes she is experiencing. To then ask her to change clothes in front of a member of the opposite sex is horrifying. I can’t imagine what those young girls went through. I hope the mother receives justice.

  18. My first comment was hasty, posted before I fully read the column. Totally on the mark comments about suburban married corporate men. These men are beholden to materialism and social status. These men fear the AWFLs that have captured the corporate world, and are scared, even terrified, of their wives. As I discovered this in my 30s, I found this emasculation shocking. It is one of the reasons I turned conservative. I love my wife, she’s a keeper, she’s amazing, but I’m not scared of her. We have our disagreements, but she’s not an AWFL.

  19. Thanks for bringing this to the forefront John. There was very little media coverage, because they are of the same mindset as the AWFL’s. You are correct, it truly is a religion, a religion of social status that sacrifices children on the altar of “transitioning” children confused by the society and people around them. They are like the Pharissees of Jesus time, who “loved the praise of men more than praise from God” John 12:43. Their “modern” religion denies the existence of God. And John, you are correct that, barring a revelation from God in their lives, they will be like the people the Apostle Paul wrote of in the Book of Roman’s- “Since they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, He has given them over to a depraved mind, to do what ought not to be done”! Romans 1:28. It is time we realize the lack of belief in a Creator and that we are made in His image is at the core of Progressive, Leftist thinking. But as many have said already in comments, let us not stoop to their behaviors, but walk in the light if the truth of Jesus! The mom deserves praise for standing up for the truth, and Dan and others for making the case known!

    My State Senator Andrew Chesney (45th District, I live in Northwest Il) has a link on his website (www.Senator Chesney.com) to the U.S. Department of Education DEI form to report on schools continuing to indoctrinate our young children with radical teachings.

    I firmly believe in one God. I also believe that evil exists and the fight between good and evil is a daily one.

  23. Not to make light of such an egregious offense by that scumbag principal but I’m going to bet that his school district just paid that girls college tuition. And hopefully all of the other girls college tuition. If the parents are especially pissed they can sue the principal and his assistants for punitive damages also, reaching into their bank accounts and pensions for damages. Nothing like sitting through a motion for discovery to find out what assets you can be parted with to makeyou realize what a mistake you’ve made. When the girls are offered a settlement from that school district they should attach that idiot principals name to it such as “The Wegley Scholarship Fund”. Hopefully a free college education might assuage their trauma. That and maybe a new car to drive around to get to class also.

    I grew up in the 60’s, graduated from Viz in 1968. We had “gym” (mostly stretching and volleyball) and had to change into ugly green one-piece gym uniforms. Most of us (all girls) were embarrassed to change in front of each other. Some because of being flat-chested, or overweight, or had too much body hair.

    I cannot imagine any of us being able to change in front of a boy.

    Back when this insanity started – Lia Thomas on the college women’s swim team – how different would things be if when he was naked in that locker room if all those girls “piled on”? Maybe the girls would have been in trouble, but I bet he never would have gone into the women’s locker room again.

    In the last couple of months I read an article that I cannot find a link to. It was titled something like “What will the parents of trans kids that they allowed or forced to transition do when those children hate them years from now?”

  36. Well, it all started with the tax exemption for single adults living under the same roof treating them as married couple. Then and as of now, it’s societies fault not to rise up and oppose. Then the gays took advantage of that weakness of society and pushed for approval of their unions by the government for the same social and economic benefits from the government. Rogues like Cardinal Jorge in Argentina even pushed for governmental approval of their unions in lieu of marriage. Then the lazy and stupid college of cardinals elected him as the Pope without studying his then recent background, for the only reason that he ran 2nd to Pope Benedict in the previous election. And motivated by the proposition of Sainthood by Lady Elton John, Pope/Papa Francis called from the Vatican to the nations of the world to approve the gay unions in the fall of 2019 which kicked the Covid-19 pandemic off the ground from Italy to the rest of the world in 2020 taking the lives of millions. The catholic community and the College of Bishops did nothing the cry foul and oust this guy from the Vatican. Now, everything goes in the world to the point of societal acceptance of the Trans Community! We have no one to blame but our selves. Remember the times when the suburban moms holding their placards in Chicago downtown in front of ABC opposing R – Rated material showing in their family TVs during prime times in the late 70’s?

  37. Why do the rights of the transgender person transcend those of the girl ? Why aren’t the girls needs met or addressed? The obvious solution would be to provide separate facilities for boys, girls, trans boy and trans girl. But the school doesnt or won’t consider that as a viable option .   39. Great but very sad column. This was not even an issue until the Dems made it an issue. What are these parents thinking? We didn’t even have a “say” in our lives until we graduated high school and even then it was the ole “as long as you live in my house” attitude. When did the children begin to rule the parents?

      I admire this mom and mostly her daughter for standing up for what is right but I really feel sorry for the boy who is likely just a pawn in all of this.

      What the hell are these adults thinking given there is likely at neutral bathroom in the teachers lounge?

      1. Yea I agree with you completely. Why couldn’t this be handled by the student using a single stall staff bathroom and meet the class in the gym? Or go in first, change go to gym and then the rest of the girls go in and change? It’s absurd no one thought of any other options besides barricading the girls in the locker room. And yes that boy (cuz it’s middle school and they are 12-14 years old) is being manipulated here for a statement.

  44. I heard a story about this on the radio today before I read this column. It minimized the girls’ complaint, saying there were 5 stalls that could be used for privacy. Five! And how many girls were there? How long would each have to wait before they could get into a stall and change? My solution would be to just not change, even if they lowered my grade. It doesn’t mention showers either, does it? And they wonder why some parents turn to homeschooling.

    Did you know that the Pritzker family has control of at least 84 different NGOs? All of which are, or had been, receiving $$ Billions $$ from Biden’s administration for the escorting all the illegals across our border and then some after they arrive. When I had read that, on X, I asked if losing all those funds would cause our Illinois Blimp to lose weight as not able to afford all those gratuities.
    I am getting too old for this John, and must admit that lack of mobility, other than my keyboard, is nothing to brag about.

  46. The truth is American males have been emasculated by three forces beyond their control: the media, “progressive” Democrats and the feminazis. They destroyed any organization that taught boys to be men (Scouting, Little League, even Golden Gloves for chrissakes) by demanding that girls be allowed to join and suing (and winning) in “progressive” liberal courts whenever they were told no. They did not, however, reciprocate by allowing boys to join all-girl organizations.

    Having destroyed all-male organizations, they moved on to phase two: the glorification of girls. They instituted “take your daughter (but not your son) to work” day, all-female STEM classes, and the latest: DEI. Meantime, nothing was offered for boys.

    Not being entirely stupid (despite what women think), boys soon realized that in order to get ahead they would have to be more like girls. That is why the number of homosexual and transgender men has seemingly exploded in the 21st Century. If you can’t beat them, join them.

    The unfortunate upshot of all this emasculation is that children are being sexually mutilated to satisfy the political agenda of the three forces mentioned at the top. None of the three has America’s best interests at heart. Rather, they seek the overthrow of America and its “patriarchal society” — to be replaced with a totalitarian society controlled by themselves.
