The Chicago Way w/John Kass: FAFO Edition

Chicago Way w/John Kass (05/31/26): Ald. Ray Lopez (15th) joins John Kass & Jeff Carlin with questions about Chuy Garcia’s old school political tactics, whether or not Brandon Johnson has the heart to run for re-election, and why his fellow alders are finally getting behind his proposal to hold parents of violent teens accountable? Also, Ald. Lopez can’t explain why Mayor Brandon Johnson would give Pope Leo a Cubs hat, but Ray knows why he’s running for re-election in the 15th ward. Plus, Kasso wonders if Indiana should change the state slogan to ‘FAFO?’

  1. I have always been a supporter Of Alderman Ray Lopez. Listening to your Podcast this morning I’m disappointed to hear him say he is not a candidate for Mayor but will run for re-election as Alderman of the 15th ward. I think he is making a mistake. He has a message that so many citizens in Chicago need to hear. He concedes to easily that the Lake front liberals and the Progressives will have the votes to win but he under estimates his appeal to many more Blacks,Latinos and Whites who would support his run for Mayor. He needs financial support however.

  2. I too am disappointed in Ald Lopez’s decision not to run for mayor, he’s a level headed alderman with extensive experience in city hall. Hopefully the teachers union didn’t threaten him

  3. Ray Lopez is definitely outnumbered by the stupid there at city hall. Best that he stays there to reassure Chicagoans that SOMEONE there has common sense. The other hot topic is The Bears leaving. We all know dystopian societies are not known for its sporting or entertainment events. Only bleak, drab , depressing daily existence. As the urban violence and homeless violence increase, the citizenry will soon be reduced to forcefully being kept inside to stare at their cell phones. This defines our Bolshevik driven Chicago future…
