“Rogue Prosecutors” and the Forgotten White Sox Fan
By John Kass
August 30, 2023
Lost in all the media spin about those two women shot a few days ago while watching a ballgame at Sox Park is another name, another White Sox fan, buried by indifference:
Denise M. Huguelet, a 67-year-old special education teacher, caught in street gang crossfire shortly after leaving the ballpark.
She’s been forgotten now. She is left unremembered. Not by her loved ones, not by her family, not officially forgotten mind you, but the unofficial forgetting explains much about the rapid 40 percent spike in Chicago’s epidemic of violent crime.
But her name is not mentioned publicly, ever, and it should be remembered always, when the subject of White Sox fans being shot ever comes up.
Remembering the name of Denise M. Huguelet who was killed in August of 2021 would make powerful people in Illinois uncomfortable. Chicago doesn’t want to upset the powerful. Chicago would rather smooch their behinds to calm them, lest they become angry. Yes, this is the posture of broken slaves and neutered lickspittles, but that’s exactly where Chicago finds itself now, as the heart of the city is cut out by its ho-hum reaction to violent crime.
Gov. JB Pritzker would rather forget the woman’s name. You don’t hear him mention it. Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle doesn’t mention her name. Neither does the Cook County State’s Attorney Kim Foxx, one of the Rogue Prosecutors elected on the influence of socialist billionaire George Soros.
Or Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson, whose handling of this and other cases demonstrates the job of mayor is far too much for him.
The newspaper editorial boards don’t want to remember her either. The Chicago Teacher’s Union and Pritzker are too busy ignoring what they did to shut schools down and grow thousands upon thousands of killers, gang-bangers, carjackers and other violent criminals in the closed public schoolrooms.
Editorial writers and columnists who would hold them to account have moved on. Those who now remain look to shield Foxx, Pritzker, Johnson and Preckwinkle from those aggravating questions from conservatives. There are no conservatives in Chicago’s corporate media.
And so, through all this Denise M. Huguelet becomes a fade, disappearing, the way the powerful want it.
She was riding home from a game at White Sox Park with her husband when she was shot and killed.
They were on the Dan Ryan expressway at 67th Street when their car was caught in street gang crossfire. Passengers in the other two cars, a white SUV and a red sedan, were shooting at each other, law enforcement sources said.
There was a high-speed chase. That’s what police used to do when innocent people were mowed down by street gang crossfire. The cops chased them. They don’t anymore.
But then, the suspects crashed into a state trooper’s vehicle at 60th and Ashland Ave., and were taken into custody. That didn’t last long.
The driver of the sedan received a graze wound to the hand. She refused treatment.
Walter Melancon, a former student remembered Denise M. Huguelet this way.
“She changed my life. She really did. I wouldn’t have gotten to school without her. Honestly. Giving up wasn’t an option,” Melancon told reporters. “You didn’t have your lunch, she made sure you had your lunch. You needed help with your work, she made sure you got help. You were sad, she didn’t make you leave [and] go home until you were in a better mood. She was like everybody’s mom.”
Prosecutor Kim Foxx decided not to press charges. Police had the suspects in hand, but then were obliged to release them when Foxx let them go.
Was this the notorious case where no one was charged because of Foxx’s ridiculous “mutual combatants” theory or was that another shooting on the West Side?
With Foxx everything was confusing, as if by design, like her claim that she “recused” herself from the Jussie Smollett case, but she did no such thing.
She’s a liar on this and so many other aspects of her job. She’s the poster child for the book I’m now reading:
“Rogue Prosecutors: How Radical Soros Lawyers Are Destroying America’s Communities” by Zach Smith and Charles D. Stimson.
There’s a strange and terribly threatening trend in American criminal justice, the election of local prosecutors—mostly in blue cities like Chicago, Los Angeles, Philadelphia and New York–who are more solicitous of criminals than their victims.
I’ve made this a personal study of mine, ever since I called out Soros for financing Kim Foxx and in response, the hard-left wing of the Chicago Tribune news guild tried to defame me and silence me for it.
They failed in that attempt—I would not bend a knee to the new Bolsheviks–but they helped destroy whatever credibility the once-great newspaper had left.
When a buyout was offered, I eagerly took it, and I’m glad I did. I was finally free to speak my mind here at johnkassnews.com
I’d rather not relitigate what the Left did to me and the paper many of us loved, but they compelled me t0 react this way as they continue coddling Foxx. Many who live under Democrat rule in Chicago and Cook County feel they can’t speak their minds about Kim Foxx and the hand-picked successor recently approved by Cook County Democratic Boss Toni Preckwinkle. But I will.
“The best thing about Zack Smith and Charles D. Stimson’s Rogue Prosecutors is that it presents a comprehensive examination of the progressive-prosecutor movement in the United States,” wrote Barry Latzer in his brilliant review in “National Review.”
Barry Latzer continues:
“This book makes clear that nationally based leftist organizations, backed by generous financial contributions from George Soros, Mark Zuckerberg, and Patty Quillin, wife of Netflix CEO Reed Hastings (didn’t know about the last two, right?), are driving a highly focused ideological mission to radically alter the criminal-justice system. Smith and Stimson have exposed a rather secretive national campaign to upend traditional criminal prosecution in the United States. As they demonstrate, this campaign is a real threat to public safety — perhaps even, as they say, “a cancer on the body politic.”
I have written several columns on how this happened, how eight different prosecutors were selected by Soros forces to undercut the rule of law. One of them Chesa Boudin of San Francisco, was raised by leftist wolves in Chicago who was run off the job by voters who had enough.
“But there’s no assurance that such prosecutors won’t be replaced by others who are equally “woke” or, as Smith and Stimson describe them, defense-oriented attorneys in disguise,” Latzer writes.
“So, this is an ongoing battle.”
Of course it is, a battle for the heart of urban America. The cities are failing. People are leaving if they can.
The people of Chicago and greater Cook County must know all facets of this ongoing battle, so they can make an informed choice to select a new prosecutor, one who believes that punishing violent criminals isn’t racism, but self preservation of the great cities and minorities who are victimized by violent criminals. Unfortunately the news media is broken unable to reason beyond the simplest of slogans.
The newspapers and broadcast news now nestle comfortably in Mayor Johson’s pouch to stay warm. But I like the cold. I think more clearly with the frost. My curse is that I remember.
And perhaps some of you also remember the name of Denise M. Hugeulet, wife, grandmother who was shot to death and forgotten as collateral damage in endless Chicago’s street gang wars.

A dead white teacher is not a compelling narrative. So says Chicago’s lefty media.
Thanks for illustrating the idiotic editorial policies of our stooge Chicago media, John.
Don’t forget about the sheep and morons who actually cast votes for these people.
Why the hell can’t we have an angry electorate in the next election and throw all these bums out of office?
So sad that this is happening to the once great City of Chicago. Thank you John for being our voice.
John, A comment or article on how Chicago’s two newspapers have fallen into insignificance because of their progressive slant would we welcomed.
The Trib is now down to 82,000 print copies, the Sun-Times to 48,000 print copies and the Milwaukee paper printed in Peoria, down to 25,000 print copies. These papers got to be barely breaking even or at a loss.
They are now insignificant.
I cancelled my longtime Tribune subscription right after you were cancelled and left Chicago area after that. I lived in a northern suburb next store to a cook county prosecutor. He’s sick of trying to prosecute murders thanks to Kim Fox.
Soros and the other rich, don’t want a middle class. We’re too much trouble. Dumbed down and depended on the government we’re much easier to control.
I did the same as soon as John lost his place in the front of the paper. I didn’t miss the Trib at all when I lived in Chicago. I moved away not because of the taxes, but the violence. My wife was afraid to walk the dog in Lincoln Park….that’s during the Reign of Rahm and the early Reign of Lightfoot.
My Dem friends in Chicago still vote solidly for the Dem candidates the Machine puts forward, and for people like Biden. Sad.
I did the same, I started my subscription to the tribune when I was in High School, in the early 80’s. Enjoyed Royko until he retired, and was pleasantly surprised when I was able to turn to John Kass. After living there my whole life I moved to Wisconsin in 2021. ONe party (democrat) rule, pritzker, taxes and the reaction to the 2020 riots were enough for me.
And now we have a fire chief and lieutenant who were almost killed by a man awaiting a murder trial. At least the Sun Times reported that, but really, how could they ignore it? I’ve asked my wife to cancel her subscription, but they have her daily crossword puzzle, and old habits die hard.
Agreed that the subscriptions of #1 and #2 newspapers in the nation’s 3rd largest market are pathetic. Given those numbers, they should be insignificant, but they are not, because they are part of the political class. To paraphrase Vivek Ramaswamy, the legacy media is now the 4th branch of government.
Pat Hickey – you nailed it. It isn’t the propaganda piece that fosters the false disruptive narratives the far left of the spectrum wants to promote.
I was at that Sox game. I left a little early and headed to the Dan Ryan just like the victim did. I reached the spot where the shooting occurred perhaps 5 minutes before it happened. Had I left a little later or had more difficulty exiting the parking lot, I could have been in the middle of it. I think about that night every time I leave a Sox game. I have not forgotten. But as you said, all of the relevant Chicago and Illinois politicians have. And Johnson? He never knew or cared. I left the city and state almost 7 years ago today, 8/31/2016. But still have to deal with it. I left it all because the Chumbalones refuse to change things by voting in new leadership. They proved that beyond any doubt in the recent mayoral election. The city and the state are lost and it is very sad. How bad do things have to get?
I canceled my e-newspaper subscription shortly after you left, John. ALWAYS read your column and still do. Finally signed up- sorry it took so long. I wish you good health moving forward because I fear we are losing conservative voices since the death of Rush. I can’t wait to leave Illinois (as a physician at age 60 it doesn’t make much sense to start up new with only about 9 years left to practice.
I am shocked and saddened by what has become to this once great city, and the cancerous tentacles spreading all over make me wonder if another civil war or revolution is on the horizon. I KNOW our founding fathers would be aghast at what has happened to this country.
Tucker put it well when he said that the more they try to silence us the more confident you should be that we speak the truth.
Keep it up, John. You are part of a dwindling group (though I hope I’m wrong.
From a long-time reader and (FINALLY) new subscriber.
I just can’t wrap my head around the fact that Chicago elected Johnson! I’m SO glad we left as it’s living up to its name of Chiraq!
Amen. This is SO true!
What has happened to Say her name! Oh wait forget her name she was collateral damage. Those gang members were good kids, they were good students, somewhere there are pictures of those kids in caps and gowns. This has been the ongoing bull they have fed us. Nothing to see here. It’s not their fault.
I have heard repeatedly to which I don’t wish to hear ever again No One Is Above The Law. We can see with our eyes it’s not true. I’m done eating the shit pie.
So what do we lowly citizens do? The answer is we can’t do anything. The fact that these people who are in a position to do the right thing completely ignore it and continue to get re-elected boggles my mind. One must ask are they the true criminals? Oh better not think or say that the name police/ cancel culture will unleash a litany of terrible names describing how my thoughts are racist etc etc.
Thanks for your column and some of us have not forgotten nor will forget.
Well said, Linda. So true!
Thank you for another great column!
The Why is easy: these clowns consider the loss of life and the destruction of property as collateral damage-not important to their ultimate goals of redesigning society in their image. Think about breaking eggs for omelets…. What is so frustrating and disheartening is all those rich idealogues (best definition I can find) achieved their wealth through the very society they want to destroy. The useful idiots, like Chesa Boudin, buy into this crap because they want to be part of the “cool” group of people: like going to Burning Man and Coachella. At the end of the day they are just plain simple monsters.
Chicago is a sh*thole. Those who still live there are blind to it. You need to leave to realize that, and to appreciate the freedom of never having to look over your shoulder, of always wondering about the thug walking towards you, of seeing the filth of graffiti defacing so many clean and beautiful spaces, of always planning your driving route and about how much space to leave between you and the car ahead of you in case someone tries to carjack you. The freedom of wondering “when is all this going to catch up with ME?”
Nobody I know who has fled Chicago has ever given their decision a second thought.
Thank you for remembering Denise. The press drives home, day after day, the white mentally ill man who killed three black people in Jacksonville and conveniently ignores the death of Denise by black gang members in Chicago. Keep calling out these woke leftist socialists that are tearing our lives apart day by day.
John, another fine column. Remembering is far from a curse, it can help guide us.
It’s too bad, history is largely forgotten by the current crop of “journalists”.
I remember how you were one of the only journalists who kept the story of the young man beaten to death by a Daley nephew in the public eye and the elderly veteran in the nursing home shot with beanbag rounds that caused internal bleeding at close range by a scared cop who got off. The politicians and media remained silent.
Since the cops had the folks in this shooting custody, wonder what has become of them since they murdered this woman as they shot at each other?
And yet – the Chicago chumbolones keep voting for these leftists, socialists, marxists! The left dem party has such a stranglehold on the voting “habits” of the citizenry, that no one dares to rock the boat. You understand that all the poll workers, voting “judges,” canvassers, anyone connected with electioneering, is employed by the city! Imagine that! So who will risk their job and spill the beans about what’s really going on when it’s election time? Right – NO ONE! So, the leftists keep getting elected, as the city continues to burn, and as mentioned above, turns into a real s–thole city, following the likes of Seattle, Portland, LA, SanFran, New York, Austin. It’s over. Chicago’s toast, and doubt it’ll ever come back…
The blue cities are clearly dying of anarchy enabled by Soros DAs and their “woke” virtue signaling supporters, clueless about the fundamentals of cooperative, productive civilizations.
That’s all covered up by self-serving, amoral legacy media, just trolling for eyeballs and advertiser $. Therefore, too many voters are unaware of the destructive cause-and-effect relationships they are accidentally supporting.
America cannot survive unless the legacy media are replaced by professional journalists (e.g. Kass, others) who really care about America and report about the anarchists working to destroy it. And report about the patriots hoping to save democracy, rule-of-law, respectful public behaviors, and quality education (reading, writing, math, history, civics, science; ….NOT dystopian social indoctrination).
Thank you once again for another piece regarding the sad state of affairs of our broken system. This beautiful person was murdered and was taken from an absolute wonderful family and the classiest husband ever. At her wake it was 90 degrees in the sun and the line was at least six blocks long. I wasn’t surprised, and when people went and brought bottled water it was such a show of love. And the game that night was a charity event that she was there supporting, The Mulliganeers. It’s time to help this family.
When I heard about the shooting I immediately thought of the senseless killing of Denise on her way home from the Sox game. I’m so glad you wrote this column. If I didn’t have kids and a grandchild here I would be long gone.
So sad. Wonder why Sox attendance sucks? Commies
And today we hear that the woman who hid her gun in her fat rolls is now denying she had a weapon? And her attorney backs her up and insists the gunfire came from outside the park? Yesterday it was reported that she had shell burns on her massive mounds of fat. Today nothing. What a bunch of bullshit we are fed!! She will be protected by Brandon as she is a member of CPS….DISGUSTING 🙁
Very well stated. The Marxist prosecutors and their overlords care nothing about the “oppressed” villains or the “oppressor” victims. It is all about destroying the culture and its public safety. They wish to use the fear they can gin up to drive the fleeing sheep. As they did with COVID. They seek to create one party rule, which in Chicago and Illinois is already operational.
John, I’m very glad you “like the cold” and have moved on.
The hilarious thing about the shooting at Sox Park was THE GAME WAS ALLOWED TO CONTINUE! You chumbalones are from Chicago! Get used to it already. I’m sure detectives are looking at the security video to see who bolted from that seat section immediately after. There is a trail…if anyone really wants to find out who the culprit is. We now live in a security state. You are filmed from the time you leave your home. If you have cameras inside your home you are allowing the government access to view your activities. The city was giving out free Ring doorbells with the stipulation that the city can access footage. You travel with your government approved tracker, buy things like tickets with your trackable credit card. France has current legislation that will allow the State to turn on your phone and video to monitor your activities. Everything is known. Stalin would love what the world has become. Just give the story a few days and it’ll be replaced by a new outrage the media can manufacture. Nothing to see here in Chicago. Keep moving.
You obviously didn’t see the follow up stories to that shooting. One of the victims actually got the gun through security in the folds of her fat and it discharged accidentally, grazing her and hitting her companion in the leg.
Now why wouldn’t the Chicago media report that?
Kim Gardner, the Soros-backed St. Louis circuit attorney, resigned earlier this year after a young 17-year-old in St. Louis for a volleyball tournament was struck by a car, losing both her legs. The driver of the car was an individual who was out on bond on a robbery charge despite nearly 100 bond violations, including letting his GPS monitor die and breaking the terms of his house arrest. This was the proverbial straw that broke the camel’s back, and soon there were numerous calls for Gardner’s resignation.
John,
Someone needs to look into what Desantis said during the recent Republican debate. He made a statement indicating he removed some Rogue Soros backed prosecutors who has managed to obtain office in Florida. He said he removed more than one of these prosecutors because he each of them had stated clearly they intended to not enforce the law. Imagine that, a law enforcing Govenor removing prosecutors promising to not enforce the law. Imagine that spreading…… I’m fascinated by Vivek, but I think I’m voting for Desantis in the primary.
It’s a head shaker wondering where all this is coming from. Maybe the dorm room fantasies of a perfectly just society + white guilt = hopeless city.
Excellent column, John. As someone who now lives in Lake County, Indiana (as do I), you may have noticed a peculiar phenomenon. When robbery or other criminal suspects are at risk of apprehension here, they run “west” in an attempt to reach Crook — er, Cook — County. Unlike Chicago, Lake County, Ind. has a REAL prosecutor, Bernard Carter, who takes his professional obligations seriously. Criminals know that felony offences that would be “nolle prossed” by Kim Foxx will get them years in jail in Indiana. As a result of Mr. Carter’s good offices, criminals tend to stay away, those who do offend are sent down, and we are all safer as a result.
I remember the “crossfire” defense contradicting the common law and statutory law.
I did not remember the name Denise M. Huguelet nor Walter’s tribute to her.
Thank you for the backstory.
I too cancelled the Trib as a protest to you being forced out.
I now avoid Illinois politics, income tax, and winter weather (albeit in the middle of a hurricane as I write) in Florida.
I await your lighter column on the criminal Kias and Hyundais.
I lived in Chicago, Oak Park and Wheaton before we moved to Florida in 2000. I faithfully kept the digital version of the Chicago Tribune until John Kass was called a racist by the newspaper guild and then I cancelled the digital version. I knew John would get tired of the BS surrounding him by the Trib and accept a buyout and I am glad he did. I have been a subscriber of John Kass News ever since.
I watch the TV news on a daily basis and about what has happened to the great cities of America that the democrats have ruined due to their ideas of a better America. I also watch what our President has done since he was elected. Everything his predessor said would happen if the current President was elected has happenened.
He and his son are as corrupt as they come and I am so glad I live in Florida under the Republicans and I am so glad I live in Polk County Florida where felons are prosecuted for breaking the law. I have a daughter and son in law that moved from Los Angeles to Idaho last year, another son that lives Plainfield, Illinois who will move out to a Republican State after his twins graduate high school next year, and our oldest son moved with his family to a Republican run city. I hope another son and his wife sell their condo and move out of Chicago and Illinois soon as possible as it is no longer safe.
I don’t go to Chicago anymore. I like to think that it’s because I’ve gotten older and don’t want to hassle with the traffic, parking, etc., but really it’s just too dangerous to go. No neighborhood is safe. Thanks Democrats.
The root of this problem are the home life for kids and the teachers. Discipline coupled with strong law enforcement can make a difference….if they care to work on those.
Then, Sox games will be safer.
Responding to Leo Lygiros: BELLY FAT? EVEN MORE HILARIOUS! Maybe if Mayor “Brandon is Better” had let his acting police superintendent talk the actual truth
might have been revealed! I guess the former teacher mayor didn’t want it known that the teacher had been shot by her fellow teacher. I’m sure lawsuits are being filed already. Sue the White Sox, the Police Department, the gun manufacturer. It’s everyone’s fault. EXCEPT THE PERSON WHO ACTUALLY DID THE SHOOTING.
Another great column John….spot-on! Delivered the Chicago Trib from 4th grade till I left for college, including a Sunday motor route, as did my 3 younger Brothers. Was a Trib subscriber for years after till they did what they did to you. It’s so SAD what they, the D’s & Soros, have done to Chicago….we Voted with our feet…moved to Florida in 2022 to escape the Shooting, Looting & Rioting. Keep up the good work & fight John Kase…as well all your guest columnists!
Kasso,
I cannot for the life of me understand how the solutions to the issues of mass incarceration and selective enforcement of the law became a get out of jail free card for violent criminals and repeat offenders who are terrorizing the citizenry.
I don’t get it. Neither do I understand the open borders. Both parties dropped the ball on immigration, but the Sleepy Joe administration has taken it to a new level.
The governors of Texas and Florida were vilified for shipping illegal aliens up north, but I think it was a brilliant way to shed light on the situation as the northerners and big city liberals who “care” so much about their fellow man, don’t want them there either.
The Republicans couldn’t pass immigration reform when they had the Congress and the presidency. Immigration is to the Republicans what abortion is to the Democrats. You can scare the hell out of people and fundraise like hell off of it.
At least that’s what I think anyway.m
As for Joe? He might be even more corrupt than Trump. He might even care less about the nation. He’s definitely not making any decisions either.
But given all the idiocy, I cannot vote for him again. That’s why Trump is still even money to win. Ideally, both of these clowns would be gone.
We might not have either one by Nov 24.
Haley and Tim Scott vs Klobuchar and Whitman?
I’d like to see that
Robert: The reason leftist heads explode when Gov. DeSantis and Gov. Abbott send illegal immigrants to Martha’s Vineyard, NYC, D.C. and other “blue” environs is because doing so flips the issue while exposing “sanctuary city” hypocrisy. It also turns the tables on the left on a deeper level. One of Saul Alinsky’s “Rules for Radicals,” so beloved by Obama and his followers, is “Make the enemy live up to its own book of rules.” (Rule No. 4.) On unlimited immigration, they can’t manage it. The reaction of the local worthies on Martha’s Vineyard was priceless, and hilarious. “We welcome immigrants. No person is illegal.” “What, illegals are landing here on planes from Texas? Get them off my island, tout suite!” Another of the Alinsky Rules: “A good tactic is one your people enjoy.” (Rule No. 6.) Amen to that.
I believe you give too much “credit” to prosecutors for our rampant gun violence. Now high school kids can make their own guns if they have the 3-D machinery required. The availability of guns to ANYONE is the basis of the problem. The band of black-clad criminals we see online can buy guns shipped in from out-of-state. I know there is medical evidence that the teen-age brain is not fully mature but it’s irrelevant to these crimes. They KNOW they are criminals and don’t care whom they hurt.
Prosecutors have no role UNTIL THE CRIMES ARE COMMITTED. I favor NO probation and long prison sentences.
Ms. Conrad: Your contention that prosecutors have no role until crimes are committed is simply not true. A “tough” prosecutor, whether prosecuting a crime or not, sends a message to all those thinking about committing future crimes. And that message is “DON’T.”
Mr. K
Mrs. Hugeleit does not count. A wife, mom, Grandmom, a teacher with purpose, who had her Golden years stolen. A Saint who worked her job as a vocation, for the good of her students..taken from those who loved and cherished her.
Kasso. Let’s also remember on that tragic night the CPD was ordered not to pursue. Had it not been for great ISP Troopers nobody would have been in custody.
Where is the media about the four people run over on 35th St going into the park?
A victim struck and ended up in the sun roof as the car reached 80 miles an hour fleeing southbound on the Ryan. Again the CPD ordered to stand down as a innocent victim was impaled into the passenger compartment.
Thank you ISP Director Kelly, because the Victim is probably only alive today because a ISP Trooper served his oath to protect people, the Brave Trooper struck the rear side of the fleeing vehicle, Pitt maneuver forcing it into the wall at 70 or 80 miles an hour. Thank you Sir or Mam of the ISP for saving the Victims life, risking you own life when the Castrated CPD where ordered not to enter the Ryan.
Embarrassing two ISP Troopers in separate cars doing Real Police work as Chicago Cops did not respond until most offenders where in custody…
The Old cops are turning in their graves, when we had the small riot at State and Lake at the show on Easter Sunday in 1987, heads rolled the CPD brass and the mayor was furious. The 001st district did not request City wide help soon enough.
Then the inaction of the CPD to stop the ball game, it should have been counted like a rain game called..Now the lies to the people.
To see seventeen robberies on the Northside last weekend, not safe on Michigan Ave, the beaches, the Cta, and to here CPD brass claim crime is down, and it was a good weekend. Only one murder, with nine people shot. I wish one reporter would have asked if there had been a truce called.. Some family lost a loved one, nine people shot who knows how life affecting the gun shots will be..
It was not a good weekend..
Gawd to see this in our life time, a modern city destroyed in ten years, the laughing stock of the nation.
Great work as always Mr. K, and also love your contributing editors. Been a Kassite since your Daily Calumet days..
Praying for ure medical concerns..
Sorry but most of the people are getting exactly what they voted for, no more, no less. They know the city is going to hell in a hand basket but don’t think it will ever really impact them. The others are just irrelevant collateral damage to the Democrat party.
Then, when it finally hits them or their neighbors personally, they rush to blame guns from Indiana or the NRA instead of the thugs committing the crime.
They keep checking that “D” box on the ballot and scratching their head about how terrible that their car got jacked for the second time this year. Never connecting the dots.
Spot on.
I cancelled the Trib when JK left. For some reason I still get the digital version and Sunday hard copy in my driveway. I called two other times (Peggy from Pakistan I believe) to cancel but nope, I still get it. When I go on vacation I have to request a hold on the Sunday paper I cancelled, otherwise it collects dust in the driveway and my neighbors think I’m dead. I do admit I read Paul Sullivan’s sports column, but nothing else. Good column today John
Thank you John Kass for this column. Many appreciate your words as I do and it is so grievous that those who adhere to the policies of the squad of Ds “ruling” this city, we call Chicago, lie in their own feces.
I am sure that there are thousands of people who dwell and think of ways to bring change to Chicago, but those people are the victims and their votes just do not count. Yes, the squad of Foxx, Pritzker, Johnson and Preckwinkle will remain and anoint their next in line to do the will of leftist Soros and his ilk which now includes his son said to be worse yet.
Do I feel sorry for Chicago, not really…. It is living proof that you get what you vote for and Chicago has sure earned that merit badge.
God bless you John Kass and keep on keeping on…
Tom Adams
I agree with Pat. A dead white teacher doesn’t make it on the list of if it bleeds it leads narrative anymore. We’re only interested in narratives about the few white, wackos left whose hatred of blacks leads to violence. Never talk about black on black crime with any fervor either.
But you, John, are still fighting the good fight to save what is left of any sanity.
Great article as always, John. Denise worked in my school district. Such a great lady admired by all. Such a tragic loss in a senseless act of violence. Wish I knew what the answer was.
And only chaos is left. God bless Ms Huguelet and her family.
Crime in Chicago is a fund raiser for government officials….cry that you need new programs and then hire friends and family to run those programs. It’s a pyramid scheme built on a foundation of dead Black and Brown kids with a sprinkle of white and Asian victims.
The rooftop preacher got free land instead of taking an abandoned Hull House over on 67th and Vernon, it needed a good mopping, but he wanted land. They put him on the RTA board to pay his bills and he took donations for a youth center NEVER BUILT.
