A Tale of Washington vs America: It was the best of times, it was the worst of times…

Consider the face of the supreme American bureaucrat of the most powerful federal city of the world, the Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas.
He might want to be considered a boss but his talents lay elsewhere. A boss is someone who takes direct action and extends his iron fists over the chessboard. A Stalin, a Richard J. Daley, Boss Tweed of Tammany Hall.
Mayorkas is not a hard man of hard history. He has soft hands. Rather than confront the issue and take direct action, he is bureaucratically passive. He passively destroys the country by not enforcing its border laws. And a country without borders is not a country.
This is his talent. Mayorkas’ superpower is the sin of omission. In this he is rather like an Ottoman eunuch hatched by Barack Obama.
Mayorkas is a smooth and hairless servant of those who have destroyed the American border. His inaction has allowed the Mexican drug cartels to illegally smuggle truckloads of the deadly Chinese-made poison fentanyl that have killed 100,000 young Americans. He has allowed tens of millions of illegal aliens to mock that non-existent border and invade America while demanding goods and services from American taxpayers.
He is a servant of the China Joe Biden administration. He takes orders. President Biden opened the border on his first day in office and what the American people see is no accident. It is all by design. Mayorkas has taken orders to preside over an invasion.
And though he laughs in the photo above, a haughty laugh through his nose, he is silent in the face of a grieving mother who hoped that Mayorkas would be confronted with evidence of his sins for the sake of justice.
Tammy Nobles, of Maryland, is the mother of a beautiful daughter who was on the autism spectrum. Kayla Hamilton had just turned 20. The young woman was attacked, raped and strangled to death by one of Mayorkas’ illegal aliens. Her alleged attacker is a teen-aged member of the deadly and brutal MS-13 gang.
As the gangster awaits trial, Tammy Nobles awaited Mayorkas at his House impeachment hearing in Washington a few days ago. But Mayorkas in his arrogance, did not show up.
“She was brutally murdered and raped in her room, and he strangled her with the phone cord,” Nobles said on FOX News. “And then he just robbed her of $6, and he just left her on the floor like trash and went to lunch with his half-brother like nothing happened.”
This isn’t an isolated case. It happens all too frequently and the American people are more than angry. They are losing their country and someone will pay for it. The Democrats of course will pay but also the Combine Republicans, the RINOS like Sen. Mitch McConnell who would trade our American border security so the Defense Contractor lobbyists will smile upon him and his oily politics.
I feel a true insurrection coming on. Not some political stunt, but something that involves broken teeth and sobs and elitist media types holding their head in their hands, wondering what happened.
Political rats react to pressure. And ultimately, when there is nowhere to run whether that happens this election year or during the bloody French Revolution and the Jacobin Reign of Terror, they often turn on each other.
Partisan Democrats—fearful of granting any advantage to House Republicans—have tried to keep their distance from immigration and the border, more comfortable in playing the politics of race against white fragility.
But that’s changing as I and others have predicted, as Democrat constituencies including black Democrats put increasing pressure on big-city mayors while pouring their outrage upon President Joe Biden and his open-borders government.
Why is this fair? There is no “fair” in power politics.
Biden and his Democrats have created this immigration chaos, loudly and ostentatiously destroying policies that former President Donald Trump had put in place. Trump’s “Remain in Mexico” policy was killed in the first days of the Biden presidency.
Biden and his Democrats own this one, but not wholly and completely.
Consider another face. This one is the face of the bi-partisan Republican Washington Combine: U.S. Sen. Mitch McConnell of Kentucky,
McConnell has been pushing the Senate on a deal for “border reform” linking aide to Ukraine and Israel. McConnell is the leading GOP advocate for supporting Ukraine and is under increased pressure with Ukraine’s troops running low on ammunition and weapons.
But Americans don’t want that deal. I don’t think most of us want harm to Ukraine, but funding that war just means more Ukrainians dead.
But I think of our needs, of our country demand attention. Not McConnell’s grand ambition or the Combine Senators cozying up to big business and the Chamber of Commerce demand for cheap labor.
Not at the expense of our country. Americans don’t want that kind of deal. Republican voters don’t want that kind of deal.
Our country is hurting. Illegal immigrants invited by Biden and the Democrats pour across the border by the millions. American schoolkids are displaced from their own classrooms, their own parks. Some Democrat politicians are suffering panic attacks for what they’ve done, and pressure is building against their Combine Republican partners, the RINOS of the Senate who are often called members of the “Uni Party.”
And now McConnell wants to make a deal and sell out our American border to protect the Ukrainian border? Insane.
They unleash the invaders who storm our borders and displace American kids from their schools and parks and I look at the haughty face of McConnell and I think of Mayorkas and another character who also belongs in this story: The Marquis St. Evermonde.
He is a French nobleman, a character from Dicken’s “A Tale of Two Cities.”
He would thrive in the Washington D.C. of the present day. His party? Himself.
McConnell is no French noble. He’s from Kentucky, famous for bourbon, fried chicken, legitimate Republican Sen. Rand Paul, and artisanal cured Kentucky country ham. But though McConnell was not nobly born he is a Washington grandee, king of the Washington establishment, the embodiment of everything that conservative Americans loathe about Washington politics.
In “A Tale of Two Cities,” St. Evermonde’s coach runs down a little boy in the streets of Paris. And in America, with the borders wide open, many young Americans have been run over and killed, not by coach horses perhaps, but by fentanyl and by criminal felons who take what they want when they want, and some take lives.
Like Tammy Nobles’ daughter, Kayla Hamilton, who I told you about at the top of this story. Like Katie Steinle whom you’ve forgotten, murdered by a repeat criminal illegal as she walked with her father in San Francisco holding her dad’s hand.

The parent mourns their child and the grandee, whether from Washington or France looks down their nose at what I suspect they would consider an inconvenience.
“It’s extraordinary to me that you people cannot take care of yourselves and your children,” says Dicken’s St. Evremonde, who could have been channeling Mayorkas or McConnell. ” One or the other of you is forever in the way. How do you know what injury you might do to my horses?”
The haughtiness of Washington grandees is just like that of the French nobles before the Revolution.

I agree with you on your projection for the future. Busted teeth is the only way to go. How much longer can idly sit by and watch the democrats DESTROY our country. The United States of America is truly being RUINED, from within and MANY people don’t see it.. On top of everything else, we are BROKE … bankrupt !! We have no one to blame but ourselves.. As John has stated before, Biden is a meat puppet. The real question is, who is running the show? Is it the Obamas working with Jill Biden (aka Edith Wilson) and a gang of Clintonites who still haven’t gotten over losing to Trump? The RINOs are just in for what they can get while they can get it. They have no principles other than what is good for them financially and politically and to hell with everyone else. There will be a day of reckoning sooner or later, but when? Don’t count on it anytime soon. As long as the voters still vote for the idiots or sit on their hands and not get involved, nothing will change. Legalize marijuana for all and the voters will buy it, pay taxes on it, and live in LaLa land and continue to vote for the politicians who keep them stoned. Then they don’t have to think about reality.

When our country started following sectarian beliefs was when things really started going south. We simply need more God in our lives. You can start by getting your families back to church or synagogue. The government used Covid to empty these places of worship and they have yet to come back. In Illinois you see Catholic schools closing now because of Pritzker’s lack of support for Invest in Kids. This was the ultimate goal of the teachers unions here in this state. They got what they wanted.

I write my representatives constantly and receive “canned” neutral responses indicating their care for the people, yet they consistently vote against every bill/topic I write to them to support (i.e. school choice).
Davos has a lot to do with this. The elites are making policy for everyone, including the United States. Eliminating our border takes away our power and independence. We are part of the world order, not a free and independent country. The people currently in charge in DC, the Dems and Rhinos, believe in this. They do it for the world climate, world equity, world diversity. We look locally for the reason, but the game is much bigger. People are dying on the border, they are dying from the crime that comes over the border, but the big international combine can’t worry about individuals. A loving nation worries about individuals. A loving nation has a border.

I’m not a fan of McConnell and I’m not saying that the proposed legislative “deal” is perfect, but it would mark progress. The problem is politicians, the populist ilk on both sides of the aisle, don’t want compromised progress that the middle 50% of the nation would welcome because they just focus on far left or right extremes in the game to get reelected and stay in power. At the expense of the social fabric of this country.
We need to start making common sense bi-partisan progress (otherwise known as playing nicely in the sandbox, which we all were or should have been taught as children) that reflects the pluralistic majority view of our fellow, legal citizens. Progress over going nowhere grandstanding.
The reckoning is baked in! Can we get a fair election? We’ll see. I believe the margins will be too large for the Bolsheviks to overcome. I agree. John and those who agree with him are really selling Sen. McConnell short. It’s all about the Court these days. That’s why the DumbocRats want to pack it. In fact the Court is the last line of defense that has prevented this country from becoming an outright Marxist/Bolshevic vassal state. The Democrats under Biden whose real boss is Obama have made a mess of our Country in Afghanistan, the border, gas, and the price of food. They have also defunded the Police so crime has skyrocketed. Blood may not be killing. It might be voting out of office with an inability to have any influence or power after. It might be exile. It might be society ignoring you for the rest of your life.

I agree with much of what you say but sometimes one is in a position where he MUST do something he would rather not do. If it were not for the weakness shown by Biden and allowing our military to be weakened by budget constraints and wokeness, Putin likely would not have tried to invade Ukrain. But he has and like Hitler will if appeased in any way do the same and invade another country.Why don’t we believe him when he says he is determined
to re constitute the USSR?
We can and MUST do both aid Ukrain while demanding NATO to do more, continue to support Israel (how can you have peace when one of the parties swear to annihilate you?) Securing the border is not necessarily about money as it is about the will to get it done and can be done along with the above.
In order to have peace, I’m afraid Trump will have to give Putin something so he can save face and that is UNACCEPTABLE.

The “insurrection” on Jan. 6 will look like kids playing in the sandbox when the real teeth-bashing begins. One commenter here thinks it will be this summer, but I suspect it’ll happen when the Democrats hijack the November election and Xiden gets “100 million” phony votes to defeat Trump’s actual 92 million. When the shooting starts the One World Order folks will unleash the thousands of military-age illegal aliens they’ve imported to round up and slaughter all the lambs who’ve allowed this to happen. The “elitist media types” will not be “holding their head in their hands wondering what happened,” they’ll be straining their heads against the noose wondering what happened.

Plus, the DoJ and FBI tracking anyone that might cause them problems; from people with sincere religious beliefs, folks who buy certain products at Cabela’s/Bass Pro or even take out certain books from the local library or order them from Amazon.
I increasingly believe, based on the rising level of hateful rhetoric from the Left, that if/when Biden/Harris are defeated at the polls, he and his handlers might refuse to turn over the reins of power to Trump … or any Republican. Using the “Insurrection”, a “Stolen Election” and the “Illegitimate Supreme Court” as twisted excuses.
Before anyone decides I’m totally paranoid and wacky, don’t forget, these people are from the same party that fired on Fort Sumter, created the Klan and Jim Crow laws for the South.
Klan Grand Cyclops, Robert Byrd (D) just passed away a few years ago. Both Biden and Hillary gave him stirring, praise filled eulogies. They don’t know the meaning of the word “Shame” or “Hypocrisy”.
Just 2 years ago, they had no problem letting their friends in BLM and Antifa riot, burn cities and loot stores without a whisper of criticism.
As we read this they continue to allow random looting in the deep blue cities they run. They have no problem using violence, lies or any other means if it achieves their ends.
I’d prefer it not to be, but this could get real ugly, real fast.
Thank you John Kass for this column. It feels like there is an abode of Trump “dislikers” in the crowd today. I guess that they don’t play the game that Trump will play on Russia when it comes to our energy, oil, taking control of the market place and putting Russia and Putin in the hole.
John, I enjoyed your “Bingos” and I would follow suit on those remarks. Life is full of potholes and your words tend to fill up those holes in the chain of events happening both locally and nationally….thank you. The vision both of us have is not a great vision and hopefully we don’t get to the bareknuckled that some who are making remarks would tend to show and even foment revolution of some nature. That kind of scares me, but it might get to that with the Police Departments in these large cities going bankrupt in cash, morals and immunity.
I guess asking for the younger generation to stand up and find themselves some moral and ethical ground and share that with many others of their ilk might be a push, but what the heck, I shall keep trying. Not much left in this old sack of flesh and bone, but I wish to keep on keeping on such as a person like John Kass has done…lead on John. God bless you and yours.

I suspect it will get ugly as few on either side will concede they were wrong. No conversations. No debate. No negotiations for Ukraine conflict. The Sounds of Silence.
I know I am late coming into this conversation, but I have to vent as this is the only fair place to state an opinion as the press inculding radio and tv will not state these facts. We are letting in all these people who in my thoughts are criminals for entering our Country illegally. And what do they bring us – nothing. Oh, I should be corrected – they are bringing us crime, drugs, diseases such as mumps, measels, etc., as they are not vaccinated against these diseases. We will eventually have an uptake in the US of these diseases because of this. Yet we dared to fire our Fire Men, Police Men and Military because they would get the Covid 19 shots. Now any reasonable person can see the unfairness of this. Also the cost to us, especially Middle Class taxpapers is going to hit us hard – free phones, healthcare, etc. Some poor families are struggling to pay for health care, but they are getting it all nice and free. Add to the fact that most of these illegals are male men, not families that we are led to believe. I am just sick of what President Biden has allowed to happen to this once great Country.

Sorry. I can’t lump Mayorkas with McConnell. McConnell is responsible for keeping Garland OFF the Supreme Court, and making sure that Gorsuch, Kavanaugh and Barrett are ON the Supreme Court.
That type of insider institutional moxie is invaluable and more than makes up for his “combine” label from Kasso. Politics is the art of what’s possible in divided government. That means working across the aisle and trying to get as much as you can of what you want incrementally.

Absolutely correct. Furthermore, when Trump assumed office, he had one of the largest federal judge vacancies in history for which he had to fill. And it was Mitch McConnell who sheparderded them safely through Senate confirmation. In this regard John totally over looks how important Sen McConnell was (and is). Furthermore I’m amazed how John minimizes the importance of the federal judiciary in his overall narrative. You and I know, if it was not for Sen McConnell the federal judiciary and the Court itself might be totally different than it is today. And to further add import to Sen McConnell’s role on the Court, both Thomas and Alito are well into their 70s. As such keeping Garland off the Court was huge (since just one more liberal appointment would have resulted in a 5 to 4 liberal majority). John should put that in his pipe and smoke it!

Wasn’t it some years ago Michale Savage’s admonition to the pols in DC? He simply stated a country’s prerequisite: “borders, language, culture.” Critical requirements for a sovereign nation. Seems like he was right, and the leftists have ensured that we’ve lost all three along the way! The last scene in the documentary “the Social Dilemma” warns of the coming revolution due to all the divisiveness perpetrated upon us by the “well meaning” socialist party of the US, social media, and the old democratic party – which is no longer democratic!
