Will 911 Dispatcher Keith Thornton Survive After Calling Out Lightfoot and Foxx for Chicago Violence? Or Will They Squeeze Him, The Chicago Way?

May 21, 2022

Do you remember Keith Thornton, the 911 dispatcher celebrated in Chicago for his calm, even-handed approach to chaos?

He handled the calls in the murder of Chicago Police Officer Ella French, and most everyone who heard the feed was impressed with his professionalism, passion, and care.

But now he’s out in the news again, calling out Mayor Lightfoot and Cook County State’s Attorney Kim Foxx for increased violent crime. You’ll hear his voice again, doing a TV interview.

And in this edition of The Chicago Way podcast, co-host Jeff Carlin and I wonder if he’ll survive.

There’s much to talk about. The violence that is killing the city. The Furies.  The Summer of Joy.
