The Chicago Way, Your Kind Get-Well Wishes, The Gossips and the Pain Meds.

First, I’d like to thank all of you for your kind and gracious get well wishes after my shoulder surgery the other day.

And second, I really shouldn’t be anywhere near a keyboard typing my thoughts while zonked out on pain meds. That could land me in a pile of trouble.

So, I’m going to keep this brief.

Just before surgery, Jeff Carlin and I did two installments of the Chicago Way podcast. One was on the gossips who keep buzzing around me. Readers just called me Thursday saying they’re still at it on social media.

“Pick a little, talk a little, pick a little, talk a little
Cheep cheep, talk a lot, pick a little more,”

The second was on a Chicago police dispatcher Keith Thornton Jr. He’s got some important things to say about the increases in violent crime. Jeff will post that one on Friday.

Hope you listen.

In the meantime, good friends are helping fill in with guest columns as I recover. Just a couple more days and I should be back to writing.  At least I got the left arm moving near the keyboard!

See you soon.

John
