The Chicago Way w/John Kass: The time is now for independent media in Illinois
Chicago Way w/John Kass (10/05/26): On this episode, author and retired director of medical intensive care at Cook County Hospital in Chicago for over 20 years Dr. Cory Franklin joins John Kass & Jeff Carlin to discuss the need for independent media in Chicago and what it was like working with editors who pushed hard against bias. Thanks John, Jeff, and Corey.
That being said, John I understand you defending your brother for his column the other day, after all, he is family. I used to defend my older brother in the school yard when he was losing a fist fight, however, do not attack your longtime loyal readers and subscribers when we disagree with some of the opinions expressed by your brother ….we are not attacking him personally. You want independent media then you must also want independent readership who freely comments, which you have. We are the intelligent and moral unwashed masses, deplorables, and lumpen proles who diligently do our homework and respond/comment to what we feel are erroneous viewpoints. Thanks.
Bravo, well stated
Agree with Mr. Jennings’s comment. If columnists can give their opinions freely, so can their readers.
Agreed. John can dish it out in high moral voice, but sure can’t take it. Here is a clue John. It works both ways. Your brother had a right to express his opinion, but I as a paying reader have the “same” right – or so I thought – to respond. And if not, then I suggest your hypocrisy is overwhelming and you should get off your high horse and look in the mirror. I suggest you seriously contemplate Mr. Jennings post.
I also have to say that Dr. Franklin is totally delusional if he thinks the survival of the Jews depends upon the good will of Christians and “moderate” Muslims. Delegating one’s safety and survival to others is poor strategy bound to fail … as history has shown.
Amen.
Very recently (on tape) when a Jewish patron of a New York restaurant was peacefully eating his meal in an outdoor setting, he was verbally accosted by some anti-Semitic brute. Did the fellow patrons sitting right next to the Jewish fellow in adjoining tables go to his defense or offer any sort of support, no they skeddadled asap away to give themselves physical distance. If it were life threatening they would have been in full flights climbing over tables to get away. This happens on the local levels as well as the international levels. “Ourselves Alone” as the old true real Irish patriots used to declare.
