The Chicago Way w/John Kass: Like frogs in a pot, happy New Year

Chicago Way w/John Kass (12/30/25): Happy New Year from the Chicago Way. John Kass & Jeff Carlin look at the end of the year and who might be eligible for the first-ever Moutza of the Year. Obvious contenders are Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson, Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle, and Illinois Governor JB Pritzker, but what about the scientists bring ancient animals back to life? Plus, Kasso wonders if Illinoisians know they’re frogs?

  1. A “collective” nomination of all the local AWFLS for the Moutza of the Year, with Illinois Representative Delia Ramirez and Circuit Court Judge Teresa Molina-Gonzalez leading the wolf pack.

  2. Here in Houston a City Council member recently introduced legislation to stop Houston Police from cooperating with ICE. The bill died from lack of interest. The Democrat mayor opposed it, the Democrat run City Council opposed it. Would never happen in Chicago. The local “newspaper” The Houston Chronicle ran a paid ad from Congressman Al Green who reminded us of his great legislative achievements. Various bills he enacted to benefit Houstonians. He also reminded us of how he is descended from slaves who sacrificed their lives to make this country great and how he has sponsored legislation to ensure we do not forget their sacrifice. Al Greens personal net worth is about ten million dollars so I guess it worked out for him in the long run. He should be thankful of their sacrifice most of all. Is this a great country or what??

  3. Boy Oh Boy, wouldn’t that be something. Impartial Forensic Audits of the State of Illinois, Cook County and Chicago! Can we really afford not to? Just where is my $400 monthly rent payment to the Cook County Treasurer really going? All of the equity is being taxes right out of my home. And our Governor is applying copious amounts of his signature to new tax legislation, is he heavily invested in ink? John, inquiring minds want to know.
