  1. “Kasso is in the house” praise the Lord. John, we longtime listeners knew that it was more than just losing your voice, both literally and figuratively, and so we inquired and offered up prayers for you…thank you St. Anthony of Padua. Now that you have been saved, St. Andrew Avellino is in charge, so to speak, for the intercession of stroke victims including yourself….God be with you.
By the way legacy media, whatever happened to Savannah Guthrie’s mother, now the last page of the Slime Times, onto the Iran for the endless chatter of “experts” and their designed opinions.
Easy does it John, better to recover your health and save the world on another day.

    1. Certainly glad you’re back, and sounding good! Did you have surgery to remove The Invader? By way of encouragement, this month it is two years since my mid-50s son suffered a massive stroke. Apparently bathrooms are the stroke “danger zone”! He fell in the bathtub, trying to take a shower, so the Oak Brook medics had to get his wet, limp self out of there, down the stairs and off to Good Samaritan. Life-Flyte to Lutheran General’s Brain & Spine Institute for heroic surgery, and as the helo lifted off I didn’t think I’d ever see him again. Surgery, and a week at Lutheran, then he was off to Shirley Ryan! Today you’d never know anything happened to him. We all know every case is different but I hope you’re inspired to work well with the Shirley Ryan people and don’t weary of it. They’re VERY good at what they do and your fans are just thrilled that you’re doing well with their guidance. The effort is so worth it, not only for your own sake, but for Betty and the boys, too. God Bless!

  2. Γιάννη,
The boss is in the house! Thanx God! Welcome back! Your words were missed, but the “B-team” did a stellar job filling in for you as you recovered. Now take care of yourself, we can’t lose you! Να’ σε καλά!

  3. Good News that you are OK!
Thank you for sharing. You have been through a lot in recent years.
Thank God Betty was with you and you were not on a plane.

I am a non-medical person who trained and worked at several Chicago area hospitals,
    including, briefly, at Christ Hospital.
Christ Medical Center is a Level One Trauma Center. I think it is the best Level One anywhere.
And there are several Chicago area Level One’s I would avoid.
Christ is not perfect but I need to say something in their defense.
The ER, or ED as they say, building structure itself is old and needs to be replaced.
The front ER Desk is at least 30 years old.
However, their medical personnel of Doctors, Nurses, secretaries, etc., are top of the line.

In the ED at Christ everyone works with their boots on nonstop everyday for their entire shift.
It is true teaching hospital, forget about a break.
The medical equipment is up to date and used 24/7.

My family and I have sat in that small, gritty waiting room.
That waiting room is a great leveler in humanity – you see all kinds of people there, rich and poor.
Trauma comes first but then it is first come first served.
On the Southside it is a no brainer why CPD and CFD traumas go to Christ.

I am glad you were able to go back to Shirley Ryan Rehab, it is a great facility and a nicer place and they have your records.
The difference building wise between Northwestern, Shirley Ryan and Christ is money.
Also, not everyone who qualifies can get into Shirley Ryan rehab, it depends on one’s doctor and the
the medical system the patient is in.
Don’t get me wrong, Northwestern and Shirley Ryan are terrific and I highly recommend them.
They do serve all kinds of people but the traffic and parking are a nightmare.

Medicine and hospitals are in a constant state to keep up.
People think medical TV shows are real and they are not.
I love it when a TV hospital administrator shows up in the ER and inserts themselves during a trauma. In the real world world they would have been told to leave – immediately!

Also, I support President Trump but the news media has been sickening with its nonstop repetitive coverage of Iran. Trump announced his plans weeks ago and now everyone is surprised. And will the media please stop giving out US military positions! Fox, CNN and all the other stations do this kind of coverage all the time, most recently, Nancy Guthrie, Jeffrey Epstein, blizzards on the East Coast ., etc. They are all slanted with East Coast opinions and coverage – especially, New York and Washington with a small nod to California. They need a course in geography, the middle states and South are invisible.

Anyway, your voice is strong, John, continue to get well.
You are in my prayers. God Bless you and Betty.

  4. John, so very happy to have you back! So many challenges the last few years. Your readers love for you is strong. We look forward to more Midwest Common Sense.

  5. John, So good to hear your voice and to know that you are on the road to recovery.
God bless you & Betty and all the people that are assisting you in your recovery. 💕

  6. That was my brother who helped you. Our family loved your store. My brother and the guys he worked with are still friends. Good to see you back and on the mend.

  7. Oh my goodness, what a relief. I has just a passing concern after a couple excuses because missing the show just didn’t seem like you… Then when your brother read his favorite column and it was the dramatic and melancholy appreciation of a good horse in the snow… I was gripped with dread – something had to have happened. I was relieved just one day later to see this update. While having a stroke is not good news – I think we can appreciate how things could be worse. And we are not promised tomorrow. God speed on your continued recovery. Stay strong and keep on fighting. Love ya.

  8. Welcome back John
I was going to write a critique of the podcast but after reading all these responses I realized what was more important
We are so in need of some midwestern common sense
Yours is a strong voice in the wilderness
I pray for you and your family every day
