Pritzker’s Angry Violent Left Kills Any Hope of Immigration Compromise

By John Kass

Friday Nov.14, 2025

One mistake people who don’t know me make is when they say I’m uncompromising.

That’s bs. I’m not uncompromising, except when it comes to bad whiskey, rude bartenders and snotty leftist journalists.  But when it comes to human beings, I’m all about listening to what reasonable people have to say in offering to avoid unnecessary strife.

The strife of the AWFLs (Angry White Female Leftists) or the Latina equivalent,  which, is awfully unattractive  to those voters who aren’t rabid commies.

So I was all ears when Chicago Ald. Raymond Lopez was a recent guest on the Chicago Way Podcast to discuss possible compromise for law abiding illegal migrants who’ve been here for years, but who haven’t committed crimes. And I leave the podcast link here so you can hear for yourself.

“Well, there’s a pathway, John,” said Ald. Lopez.  “There really is. And I think the question is, are we willing to find a solution?

“Or are we just doing this so that we have an excuse to continue to fight Donald Trump and pander to the most extreme of our party? We can find a solution.

“And there’s a very simple one, which I presented to Donald Trump in my letter a few weeks ago, which is you have to take the broken immigration system that we have on a two-tier track and look at it from that perspective.

“You have to deal with the Biden-Harris migrants separately from how you deal with the long-term undocumented who have been forgotten about since Barack Obama first took office. And we can address both simultaneously and still achieve the goals that he put out as well as finally produce on something that Democrats have long talked about, which is granting amnesty to those long-term undocumented individuals. In Chicago, mostly Mexican individuals who are those hardworking people in our communities who have been waiting for a path forward, we can grant them a pardon, grant them amnesty, grant them a path forward.”

Amesty?

Hmmm.

Amnesty?

I listened to it again, while drinking a good cup of delicious Kribi coffee from my cool black Golden Moutza coffee cup.

I’m not completely against the concept. And millions of Latinos came here to work, and were promised jobs. Republicans loved the migrant surges to keep American labor costs down. And the late great Ronald Reagan allowed for it too, but then after he supported compromise, Democrats stabbed him in the back as they often do.

Millions of illegals got amnesty, but it did nothing to stem the invasion. And sanctions against employers and border security were under enforced. The Democrats mocked him and millions more came over. And now Pritzker is drooling past his fangs.

Lopez’ compromise sounded intriguing and I was reminded that conservative  Victor Davis Hanson has also discussed the issue in terms of compromise—or at least compassion. I like Ray Lopez and have always found him a reasonable man.

But then the news invaded the Lopez peace. And any chance of compromise was broken, thanks to Pritzker.

And one of Chicago’s most violent street gangs, the Latin Kings, made headlines calling for the assassination of federal agents. The Kings were doing Pritzker’s bidding.

“Customs and Border Protection officials said Latin Kings street gang leaders have issued a “shoot on sight” order targeting agents involved in immigration operations in Chicago, NewsNation has learned.”

“Officer/agents are reminded to maintain heightened situational awareness and exercise extreme caution when conducting enforcement activities,” the agency’s internal warning said.

News of the alert comes after shots were reportedly fired at federal agents during an immigration enforcement operation in the city’s Little Village neighborhood on Saturday.

Another headline:

Mexican gangs offering up to $50K bounties for ICE agent assassinations in US, DHS says

Federal law enforcement officials suspect Mexican criminal organizations are funding a scheme to pay thousands of dollars in cash bounties for the killings of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents, with payouts allegedly increasing based on an employee’s rank and actions.

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) on Tuesday announced the alleged bounty system offers $2,000 for gathering intelligence or doxxing agents — including photos and family details — $5,000 to $10,000 for kidnapping or non-lethal assaults on standard immigration officers, and up to $50,000 for the assassination of high-ranking officials.

The left is always devouring its own, a lesson taught by the Bolsheviks who destroyed the Mensheviks in revolutionary Russia, a lesson taught now by AOC to hapless weakling Senate Minority Leader Who Gives a Chuck Schumer, as the hard Marxist American left devours Schumer whole.

With all that history, you’d think that Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker—who loves exhorting angry Latino crowds against the government–would have paid attention to the past.

But he did not.

In that news link, note what one of the TV talking heads said to the other, making sounds of conciliation yet terrified of triggering leftist Latinos.

“Tensions are high, I don’t think anyone can dispute that.”

Tensions are high, yes siree bob. But as Pritzker runs from commie aldermen, and saves up testosterone to talk tough at Greg Bovino’s back, there is even more tension.

Who is Pritzker defending? Child sex traffickers? Drug dealers?

Dude, I’ll tell you who they’re protecting: The narcotraffickers who killed 100,000 young Americans last year. The illegal migrants beholden to criminal gangs.

Good and decent men like Ald. Lopez think of compromise.

But shameless weasels like Pritzker and his violent radical left wing unions ruin the idea of common ground, they take over the streets, ramming I.C.E. vehicles and shooting at law enforcement isn’t about seeking common ground. It is about violent demands, like the old Confederate slave owners at Ft. Sumpter firing on union troops to protect their slave trade.

We won’t compromise with coward gang bangers, and definitely not with politicians like Pritzker who has been exhorting violence, but does it the coward’s way, without leaving bloody fingerprints of his own.

I will never compromise with that odious creature. Never.

They must be rooted out and stamped out.

They lurk under government rocks, hiding, as did a staffer for U.S. Sen. Tammy Duckworth. The staffer who allegedly impersonated a lawyer to free a dangerous ICE detainee. But he was not a lawyer.

https://cwbchicago.com/2025/11/ice-says-duckworth-staffer-impersonated-lawyer-gain-access-to-detainee.html

Amnesty? Conciliation?

Not for those coward gang bangers, and definitely not for the slimy politicians exhorting violence against sworn law enforcement officers. Never. Not for the narcotraffickers selling sex slaves. Never.

And Duckworth has always been a rather dim bulb, a DEI hire always prattling slogans eager to take orders from senior Democrats. Duckworth, Pritzker, Johnson, and the more malevolent labor unions like CTU and SEIU aren’t remotely about working Americans.

They are the neo-confederates hoping to keep their slaves and profit by them as they did in the 1850s in South Carolina. But this is 2025. We didn’t compromise with slave owners then. So why are we defending narco gangs that sell little girls as sex slaves now?

For politics? I spit on their marxist politics.

We are the Americans. They are the confederacy.

There’s no compromise with them now.

  1. Duckworth is nothing but a DEI sympathy vote. She has all the intellect of a tree. When it comes to governor toilet bowl, I don’t understand why he’s not in prison for obstruction or worse. In Chicago, the voters had an excellent choice with Paul Villas, and, as usual, the 13.2% voted in another intellectual dolt.
Am a native Chicagoan who left years ago for greener pastures, but it still breaks my heart to watch home dissolve into chaos, death, and bankruptcy.

      1. Good morning, Mr. Kass. In California we have a governor bent on destroying the American way of life and my district congressman, Jimmy Panetta, a Democratic Party apparatchick, does what his dad, Leon Panetta, tells him to. So I’m used to partisan politics and especially my hometown of Oak Park has gone off the deep end. I’m returning to my native soil of Chicago and I ask your readers what makes for a good neighborhood? The answer is simple: good people moving into a neighborhood and their presence alone makes the neighborhood a better place. I realize Chicago has problems, but I still believe in the decency of Chicago people, the majority of whom want to live peacefully, go to work, and raise their children. Don’t give up on Chicago just yet.

    1. I’ve referred to Duckworth for years as “do-nothing Duckworth” and as a result often get receive phony outrage from those on the left, that I have no right to criticize her because she is a hero who was disabled serving our country in the military.
Two things can be true at once, she can be respected and honored for her service and sacrifice in the Army, but that does not mean no one can criticize her lackluster performance as a Senator. Her biggest accomplishment so far that I can think of is getting the rules changed so that senators can nurse their infants on the Senate floor. If that can really be considered much of an accomplishment…
Otherwise she is unremarkable, other than appearing at a press conference from time to time to recite the usual Democratic Party talking points, or mock outrage at Republicans, she doesn’t seem to do much of anything in her role.
So I will unapologetically continue to call her do-nothing Duckworth, unless she at some point decides to tirelessly commit herself to serving the people of Illinois instead of continuing being a lazy Democrat party lackey.

    2. Larry, I spent probably the best year of my life living in Old Town. 1986-87. I discovered the Twin Anchors down the street, along with many other fine watering holes and restaurants. The Schubert Theater and so on. It breaks my heart too to see such a beautiful, wonderful city go down the drain.
      Tom

  2. Duckworth fitted all the DEI qualifications including being on the intellectual level of her fellow feeble Democrat Maizie Hirono who has done very little to advocate for her fellow vets…..I guess my criticisms make me racist, misogynous, ableist, and anti-amadan. The last election was a line in the sand and still is, an illegal alien is still an illegal alien.
I am amazed at the poll recently where a large percentage of young women in this country would rather reside in another country when these AWFLS and Karens created the ground for all the violent illegals to prey on these very females…like the serial punch-in-the-face perp who locally keeps slugging females in the kisser.

    1. May I ask one favor, please. Those of us who are honored to have had our mother and father name us KAREN (some of us about 85 years ago!) don’t really deserve to be tossed into the maelstrom created by the well-described AWFLS. Out here in the western suburbs where we used to be the pillar of Republican strength (kudos to Pate Philip!) we’re watching the pitiful, frightening demise that is signaled by the swirling motion of a most efficient toilet bowl in action. The atrocities in our local levels of government (some of the villages, the forest preserve district, the county, etc.) are gut-wrenching to witness. Please don’t continue to assume that “Karen” equals that idiocy. As a public servant for 27 years, and elected official for 18, being insulted like that isn’t a good feeling…..not even a little bit. Attack my policies, attack my decisions, attack the outcome of my administration, but please don’t attack my good name.

      1. May I suggest you change the spelling of your name to Karin, Karan, Karon, Caren, Caran or Caron?
Your dilemma is similar to men named Brandon. You remember the “Let’s go Brandon” days, don’t you?
I’m not making light of your disdain for “Karen” to be used in that way.
I’m just saying that it has widespread usage now and I believe it’s here to stay.
Changing the spelling would disassociate you from it. I’m fond of “Karin”. It has a nice ring to it.

  3. Too true! For decades when teaching my students to take notes and analyze I’ve held an imaginary flashlight over the corner of a desk and asked them what’s illuminated? I’d move it to all 4 corners, then hold it 3 feet over the test and ask again. My point, get out of the weeds and take the 35,000 ft view of the situation.
Chicago has a housing problem, an unemployment problem, a failing school system, and massive corruption. Illegal immigrants are competition for low end wages and housing, downward pressure on the wages, upward pressure on housing costs, and a font of corruption due to their legal status. How does opposing deportations help Chicago?
The current administration in DC is attempting through tariffs, foreign investment, energy policy, and deregulation to reindustrialize this nation after globalism [the giant sucking sound] deindustrialized it. Chicago has a great location, abundant water, good infrastructure [relatively] but lacks cheep & reliable power, chaos and crime in the streets, a predatory/corrupt govt, and horribly ineffective schools? Who is putting ANY effort to correct this and take advantage of new policy?
Point this out steadily & loudly and maybe things will change, but I don’t see this happening.

      1. You’re most welcome.
We blew an opportunity here in NJ. Hanwha is putting billions into the Philly shipyards – why not in Camden too! The Trump admin is trying to re shore pharmaceuticals – Merk, Bristol-Myers Squibb, J & J would love to expand here. Why not? Taxes, regulations, and an emerging problem with energy shortages. All are EASILY solvable along with a refocusing of the [very good] school system towards vocational work.
Sherrill is a tool of the Dem establishment – she’ll do the opposite and NJ won’t cash in on reindustrialization or the great flight from NYC. Another state where retirees and new grads will need to move.

  4. There’s an old saying: “Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.”

When the Reagan amnesty was passed, politicians and legislators (big overlap there, but not *quite* the same group) promised that immigration laws would be enforced, and there would be no more amnesties.

    Fooled us once.

Now, after millions more have illegally crossed into the US, we’re told to issue another amnesty. That would be fooled us twice.

    No.

Yes, I absolutely do feel compassion for those who come to the US for better lives. But the solution isn’t to simply say, “Well, they’re here and they’re sad and poor.” The solution is to rework our immigration system and then enforce it. Our patchwork system of quotas, and lotteries, and “special” visas such as H1B and H2A and heaven knows how many more simply does not suffice. I spent a decade contacting Senator Durbin and Senator Duckworth, asking them to please do their jobs and restructure immigration. What I received in return were form letters thanking me for my interest… and news bite after news bite of them with illegal immigrants pleading to follow Emma Lazarus’ poem on the base of the Statue of Liberty.

Not one word about them actually legislating for change.

Maybe I wouldn’t have liked the changes that were passed. Maybe I would. But the fact that they did nothing – and I did search bills they proposed, sponsored, or co-sponsored and found nothing (and then we fled Illinois).

But I will NOT put up with being fooled twice. Not by them, and not by current legislators. Fortunately, one of my senators is reasonable, and our rep in Congress is as well. But I iknow they’re not enough.

    1. Thank you Rebecca Welter. Excellent posting. You and Mark put me in the mood to write. I read your letter while listening to Alessandro Simonetto on piano playing: Notebook for Anna Magdalena Bach (1725): No. 26 Aria BWV988
The spotify ap played a video of a man walking along a cold windy beach which I can no longer do. But your kind letter was most calming and set my mood. so thank you.

  5. I loved my life in Chicago. But life really is so much better away from there, away from Illinois. Nobody down here in South Carolina gives a damn about Chicago’s problems- these are problems brought on by the stupidity of the chumbalones. Everyone complained about Lori Lightfoot, but then the go a vote in a clown who’s ten times worse. Sorry Illinois, no sympathy.
Never underestimate the blind stupidity of northern urban voters. NYC just proved this point.

  6. 1. John, luv those new Mugs. Bought 2 and probably more for Christmas gifts.
    2. JB, better known as Jag Bag, and Sen. Ducktape are total losers who have done little to help with cost of living for average Americans. But neither has GOP. People vote their wallets. GOP is heading tower a big fall in ’26 unless the economy improves for average family.
    3. Amnesty? for breaking the law by illegally coming here. Fine, we won’t ship you back, but you must have a job and for the years you are waiting to become a citizen you will NOT receive and safety net govt benefits, ie SNAP, MEDICAID, ETC. did you know Mexico has no safety nets other than health care. You don’t work? You beg or starve. I’ve been there. Tens of thousands live outside Mexico city in tents.
BTW Obama shipped more illegals out of US t

  7. Need to finish.
Obama shipped more illegals out of US than any POTUS, SO FAR.
LUV YOUR AWFLS. Here’s another term: GYNO FASCISTS/NAZIS.
Finally, see new movie: Nuremberg. Good, not great but good.

  8. Much of the mayhem in the Chicago area concerning ICE rests upon the shoulders of its media. The media that gives local politicians, windbags and opportunists a platform to bloviate on. How about asking why these “protestors” are they using their children as human shields in these violent demonstrations? Why did the woman who refused lawful orders to stop her car refused, instead fleeing to a daycare with children present before violently resisting? If she was concerned about traumatizing the kids would she have done this? People going to the scene of planned attacks on ICE activities by putting their kids on their cars as they look for ICE cars to ram? You can see the video of the violent demonstrations at the Bridgeview ICE facility with people placing their kids in front of them as they violently harass ICE personnel? Children as human shields? Maybe someone in the local media could addresss the trend…but then again. MAYBE NOT.

  9. Great column. I listen to the Chicago Way all the time. Thanks for having Ray Lopez on, John. I like Ray a lot and feel he is (like you) a voice of reason in these times.

  10. Yianni,,
Well, I suppose we get the government we deserve. So the chumbolones that voted for mayor Pannix and governor Dumbo, (less than 20% of all voters) bestowed upon us these gifts of ineptitude, and brazen stupidity. “Dumb as a brick” evokes visions of the two, tweedle dumb, and tweedle dee. Maybe voters have learned a valuable lesson, and all of them will get off their butts and vote for a conservative or independent candidate that can undo the damage done by the leftists and socialists….but there’s the rub……where is that candidate??? The “machine” continues to grind away, offering up their own “malakes,” dashing any hopes of viable solutions. Theos filaxi…

  11. The problem with amnesty is exactly what happened with Reagan and I am glad John brought it up. Amnesty creates perverse incentives. Where is the line drawn? If it’s drawn at “I have been here 10 years working and being a good citizen” why isn’t it 9 years? 5 years? A week?

I have heard the word “compromise” but I haven’t seen any actual policy put on the ground to understand what “compromise” looks like so you can understand what the after effects will be. Policy creates incentives and disincentives.

I would strongly suggest people understanding Gary Becker’s idea for immigration. https://papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers.cfm?abstract_id=3922137

  12. Ducky is an affront to the Illinois public initiated by cynical Blago. He began her unearned political ascent that just keeps refreshing reminders of that sin.
Compromise that does not address the ills of the Biden border collapse must not happen.
Millions of new unaffordable public charges.
Local burdens on pubic education and housing demand.
    Little or no cultural assimilation.
$ Billions in wired remittances leaving the communities in which they are earned. Another “giant sucking sound” leaving local economies cash-depleted.
Any alien population seeking our acceptance at a minimum should appear to be genuinely grateful to be here, and willing to know what our laws are and abide by them.
Not back-dooring them with DEI miscreants like Senator Ducky.

  13. Years ago while still at “the paper” before it went woke, John wrote a column on illegal immigrants with a proposal that still sticks in my mind since it made a lot of sense.
Given the millions of illegal immigrants in the country and the impracticality of trying to round them all up and send them home, he suggested the idea of creating a new class of green card. One that would allow those illegally here to apply to become permanent residents, but without all the rights and privileges that one who immigrated here legally and gets a green card gets.
Most importantly, they would not be eligible to become citizens. They could stay here legally and work, pay taxes, raise families etc, but not ever become citizens and vote, unless they at some point chose to return to their home country and then try to jump through the hoops to immigrate to the US legally.
Of course, these restricted green card holders would need to obey the laws, as getting convicted of a crime or a serious traffic offense like DWI would result in their permanent residence status being revoked and them deported.
I’d suggest in addition, those here who were granted DACA status be allowed a path to citizenship. But in order to qualify, those on DACA would be required to serve 2 years of public service such as enlisting in the military, Peace Corps or similar, to earn this privilege being offered to them.

    1. One aspect I forgot to mention, the 10+ million illegals who flooded the borders opened by Biden and Mayorkas and facilitated by them with fraudulent amnesty claims, and back door funded through NGOs should not be eligible for this new restricted green card program.

  14. “Compassion” is emotional blackmail pulled out of the left’s quiver to throw people of faith and values off-balance. Where was the compassion for all the taxpayers whose money the peaceful illegals stole in improper government benefits? Where was the compassion for legit citizens’ children whose educations were degraded by the overcrowding of classrooms and the clumsiness of bi- or tri-lingual lessons?

And what of the compassion in tilting elections away from Americans because illegal slip through purposely shoddy election-integrity rules and vote for ever-bigger government to keep their goodies coming?

Cheaters must not win. They must earn and buy any compromise. For instance, an extra 1-2% surcharge on their taxes as a way of reimbursing us for the welfare and food stamps stolen upon their arrival. A moratorium, maybe even a ban, on letting them vote here.

I still prefer the current ICE position: Leave voluntarily and you can get in line to come back legally when your number is called. Force our agents to put you out and you never, ever will be permitted to set foot in the U.S.A. again.

The Biden/Harris administration was like Moe, Larry and Curly infesting a mansion with pests, then showing up as exterminators looking for business. Except those Dems only showed up with more pests.

  15. An illegal unable to conclusively prove they were present before Biden’s 1-21-2021 installation, and remaining present, needs to be barred from future entrance and citizenship.
Employers found using them need to be ascertained and financially punished.
Illegal aliens do little harm to our elected overlords.
To taxpayers it drives down our wages.
    It demand-balloons housing costs.
It drives public sevices taxes higher.
It shrinks the dollar recirculation in local communities.
How many of those affect the Porcine Porcelain Prince?

  16. Obviously Pritzker doesn’t care about Chicago, Illinois, or the USA. This is quite obvious. I will not vote for any incumbent, and I really think we need term limits and age limits, and public financing of campaigns.

You say, rightfully so that the Democrats are useless, feckless, panderers, who seek to further their own power by growing the underclass, growing government and using fear to further their agenda.

That’s all true. Why then do you not hold the other side to the same standard? Pritzker represents, at best, maybe a third of Illinoisans. Well over half are unhappy with the way things are going. There is no Republican Party in Illinois.

Republicans had a majority in 2016 and failed to do anything vis a vis immigration. Have there been any cases challenging the sanctuary city status? I thought the federal government was supreme? Also, Donald said on Fox that we need more immigrants for our colleges. 600,000 Chinese students! I thought the universities push woke politics, why help them?

He says we need more HB1 visas.
    He’s pushing 50 year mortgages.
He’s funding two wars, shaking hands with Al Queda, and entertaining new US military installations in Syria and Gaza, where our soldiers will be sitting ducks, not it to mention doing the dirty work of a foreign government, who have scores of military aged men who don’t serve in their military and do not work. Welfare Queens!

    Venezuela?
Don’t piss on me and tell me it’s raining.

I like Ray Lopez. He’s got moxie. I like Paul Vallas. I believe he’s got the expertise to truly transform the city and the state.

We’ve got to get a viable opposition party. We need good public servants. We need to stop the mafia that is bribing the people with their own money.

We tacitly condone sex trafficking, drug smuggling, money laundering, censorship, as long as our “side” does it.

Anyone with a brain knows Pritzker and his enablers are morally bankrupt and destroying the state.

    What is the alternative?

  17. John Kass….if we could only clone you into the offices that need staunch backbone and ideas for the citizens of this Land of Lincoln, it would be a miracle. But we rely on the voting booths to present us with what we now have….your remarks and others above are the juice that should make those numbers change, please God.
Alderman Lopez is a voice in the wilderness and seems to be alone. His remarks alongside of yours are the stuff to assist in making better spines in places needed. No longer living in Chicago for the past 80 years or more, thank you dad and mom, gives me thoughts of moving out of our Land of Lincoln….not possible. Like a cabin in the wild, our 1 bed condo is our KISS strategy for survival.
I thank you John Kass and all the above people who have the time and life available to put the juice into those who need it. With people like Mark P Horniacek willing to vent and talk, perhaps we should remind Mark that Paul Vallas was once a teacher and Chicago needs more individuals with the backbone and willingness to make a difference above all evils existing now.
May God continue to bless you John Kass and your family with wisdom, health and happiness. May your wisdom and journalistic abilities put a sticker in the backsides of those who make our USA so demoralized with socialistic marxism. As always, Faith Family Flag Freedom. Keep on keeping on John Kass.
    Tom

  18. I would consider limited amnesty. Green card for those here for more than 10 years, who have paid taxes and have no criminal record. But no path to citizenship. Unless they leave the country and apply for legal entry.

Bounties on ICE agents? And lefties say agents that wear masks are cowards. Let them deal with the cartel.

  19. I like Ray Lopez. Compromise – brilliant! Kass knows all about the peace commission from Virginia who appealed to the Lincoln Administration for compromise. But there was to be none. We never seceded to keep people in chains – Kass know this as well, because he is so well read on the subject from all sides as you can see.

The Confederacy never wanted power, we – EXACLTY like Trump recently, just would shrink in the face of coercion. However the Democrats, like the Radial Republicans – wanted power, one party rule and exactly zero competition from Black labor. So there was to be no compromise.

But he lets me post – if he were to agree, there goes the column. The only reason we will ever have a county, above ALL ELSE, is if there are people who let that past speak on its own terms, and who just do not sell out

  20. I’m late in reading today’s column. I usually am enjoying a cup of coffee while I read. I may have to gift myself that mug.
I’m done being surprised at the stupidity of toilets, and panic attacks.
I am upset at those that still follow these fools. Will they ever wake up?
    Thanks for your column.

  21. What Victor Davis Hansen fails to tell you that this immigration issue and all the problems that come with it are not solely at the feet of “the left”. He does not tell you that our own sainted oligarchs who are engaged in a Game of Thrones to control not only our nation, fund both ends and also manipulate our political medias and religious leaders to keep us at each others’ throats.

They own the media. So they can manufacture consent for war and unspeakable cruelty. When Israeli soldiers post video on Tik Tock bragging about and documenting their cruelty, they just buy it. They buy CBS news and install a lightweight to run it.

These oligarchs own everything. They own much of our real estate, artificially keeping supply low and prices high, then tell us to get 50 year mortgages.

They employ illegal aliens. Kass, if there were no jobs, many of these people would not come.

This recent wave ushered in by the Biden team is clearly a move to manipulate the census and the vote going forward, but not to push a leftist agenda.

There is no push for national health care.
There is no push for construction of housing.
There is no push to align our educational system with jobs that are actually available.

I heard Shaun Thompson the other day say that he doesn’t want to provide health care for anyone. I once heard a Congressman say that he didn’t want to pay for someone else’s cancer. We absolutely need to bring costs down, but is this the kind of society we want to live in? Where medical bills are the number one cause of bankruptcy?

How do we spend twice as much as other nations, yet get worse outcomes? Our national life expectancy is going down.

Then there’s the issue of our sick and our elderly. We are not doing right by them, and I don’t mean we just need to shovel money there.

You have two sons. I’m sure you will have grandchildren one day. What kind of world do you want to leave them?

Our Democratic Party is not truly progressive or left. Socialists actually want more even distribution of wealth. Democrats skim the cream off the top then call you an ist, phobe, or ite if you question them.

I see that now on “the right”. They are propping up a horribly corrupt regime and hiding behind some sick bastardization of Christianity.

They are two cheeks of the same backside.

George Washington was against political parties. Neither of these parties is working on our best interests.

Ray Lopez is correct, we need to offer amnesty to those who’ve been here for years, have been employed, even by conservatives.

Otherwise go after the employers too.

You know, Reagan did a compromise on immigration. Reagan also pulled our Marines out of Lebanon when they were blown up. He also told Israel to cool it with their military campaign. Neither Biden or Trump would call off Israel. Enough is enough. Ukraine too.

Massie, Greene, Ro Khanna might truly be on to something. America First. All Americans.

  22. I have a been a long time reader. I could not agreed with you more. I listened to Ray the other day. The anti ICE tantrums’ goal is exactly what Lopez is suggesting is offered in exchange for ceasing violence.

    Nope. Sorry.

  23. Our US immigration system is broken and overrun, even before Biden clobbered it.
Congress needs to define what is expected of an immigrant and codify it.
    1. Legally enter
    2. Assimilate to US civil practices
    3. Naturalize your citizenship
    4. Do not disparage the US but civil protesting is allowed.
    5. Deportation possible until naturalized
    6. Unlawful behavior will be prosecuted.

Amnesty should never be permitted without first establishing rules and securing the borders.
Aggressive deportations only began because of Biden’s broken oath of office. 1.5 million have self-deported with their belongings. ICE should continue until that number increases to 10 million. Then, we should look at a compromise.

  24. It is interesting to have read all of the various opinions, thoughts, ideas, suggestions and analyses offered by your faithful readers, John. As a superb writer, you do an excellent job of eliciting a wide array of thoughts and ideas from those who take the time and care enough about our precious country to read and ponder what you offer.

I believe it is worthwhile for each of us and all of us to examine further what is being offered. The range is wide, but there is an underlying commonality: MONEY!!! BIG money, going to BIG people, and that is usually at a depth we don’t care or dare to address.

As we consider the issue of the day, our “broken” immigration system and who exactly is going to “repair” it? Who has decided it is broken? Certainly those caterwauling so they can get some face-time on television or on the plethora of electronic media sites.

Is it broken for those who profit from it? It certainly is NOT!!! Friends, FOLLOW THE MONEY!!! Not only the $$$ paid to the coyotes who get these people across the border – -kids, walking all the way from Guatemala. Most of those crossing wearing fairly new, clean shoes, many in matching shirts, nice back-packs, 95% of them with cell-phones that seem to be able to be charged as necessary. Seeing the daily quota of Chinese crossing – exactly 22 of them each day. Not 25 and not 20. There were 22 each day. Transited from China to Mexico to the U.S. and Xi Jinping wouldn’t know anything about that, I’m sure…..and those stories go on and on, from countries around the world. I’ve done a goodly bit of traveling: trans-oceanic travel is not cheap!

So, we ask the question that NO ONE will usually ask, much less consider asking….WHO PROFITS from that part of our “immigration” system (that they don’t think is broken at all!)

Ancillary to that: who EXACTLY profits from the sex-trafficking of the kids who come across and are routinely placed in the care of an “uncle” they’ve never met, only to disappear into the hinterlands of the country, being subjected to horrors we cannot likely envision. WHO GETS THE MONEY? They certainly don’t think the immigration system is broken, do they?

Once these “travelers” get here they are fed, clothed, medicated, educated, transported and counseled. Governor Big Pants joins the cacophony of voices screeching about how TERRIBLE it is that the Governor of Texas would even THINK to send these poor, hapless souls up here; except, what would he prefer? That Abbott leave them all sitting on a river bank, cold, starving, victims of what and whom? Enter THE MONEY!!!! BILLIONS OF DOLLARS OF YOUR MONEY!!! Those who receive those Billions don’t think the immigration system is broken. Think of the deal the beloved NGOs have worked with the government. It is staggering – YOU get to pay! Such a deal! As you are moved, take a look at the somewhat readily available numbers of $$$$$$$ that have gone to Catholic Charities, the U.S.Conference of Catholic Bishops, Lutheran World Relief, Jewish Family Services and Jewish Council for Public Affairs (to name just a few of the MANY NGOs that are receiving cash). Why is this important? They are ALL given what is called BlOCK GRANTS, literally in BILLIONS of dollars (once in a while in the millions – yea, us!) and the concern? NOT ONE PENNY of that money is traceable and they are accountable to the government for NOT ONE PENNY of that money! EXACTLY who is getting those dollars. Who wins those contracts? Who gets those donations? Who collects a “finder’s fee” or a commission? Who writes up those requests so the money continues to flow? NONE of those people think the Immigration System is broken…..not one of them. They’re all profiting quite nicely, thanks.

Another group who you think might consider our Immigration System to be broken? Those folks in lands across the world who are helping to get folks funneled to the U.S. – both local nationals and U.S. citizen/employees who are assisting. They certainly don’t think the system is broken! It’s their livelihood, and the part NO ONE remembers to talk about? The AMERICAN DOLLARS that get sent back home from the folks that make it across and get to work here, in whatever job, whatever industry they can. Oh, yes, it is a BIG DEAL, my friend. Last year (2024) it is reported that foreign nationals in the U.S. sent $905 BILLION “back home”….biggest recipient? India, followed by Mexico, etc. There is NO WAY those folks think our system is broken!!! That cash just ‘moves’! This current Congress did enact a requirement that beginning 1/1/26 a 1% tax will be levied on SOME outbound transfers. umm-hmmm.

The same principle applies to our “broken” Health Care system. The Democrats installed it, and they join the Republicans in hollering and whining about how expensive healthcare is, and whose mother can’t get care and on and on. When will any of them ASK THE QUESTION: WHO IS GETTING THE MONEY? The insurance companies are making insane amounts of money! But so are the arbitrators and the hidden companies who have their hands in the till – those writing unending rules, regulations and requirements that we must all follow; the people your own physician argues with on the phone because he or she knows full well what treatment you need, but some faceless “somebody” is sitting there saying “nope”. None of those people in that hidden maze of healthcare dollars thinks the system is broken!!! They’re making a FORTUNE and we are not one bit healthier for it. Until we ask the question – WHO IS MAKING ALL THE MONEY? – nothing will change.

As to the comments above talking of the idea of “compromise” on the immigration system? Why? Try convincing a 3-year old that you really mean what you say, when you don’t really mean what you say, and then you wonder why he continues to try you and test you and ‘cheat’ at the edges and drive you NUTS! You think this would be different? Friends, think!!! Who is benefitting from this? Remember when Mr. Obama brought in countless numbers of Somali natives? He didn’t scatter them about in the country. He found an already fairly liberal place that is easy for the east and west coast “intellectual elites” to ignore! He plopped almost all of them in one Congressional District in a god-forsaken corner of, of all places, Minneapolis, Minnesota!; those ‘coastals’ all say WHERE???? and go on about their business…until we’re ‘gifted’ with Ilhan Omar! Imagine that! Their very own member of Congress with all kinds of access. Such a deal. Partnering with the folks from Dearborn, Michigan (been THERE lately????) Do you think any of them view our immigration system as broken? Of course not! Worked just fine for all of them! Why do you ask???

All of the current screaming and hollering and posturing and profound concern does only one thing: it hides the fact that there are many, many folks who are profiting quite nicely from this “broken” system. Keep hand-wringing, and send in your tax money – – – the feds have pockets to fill.

  25. HUMANE ,WORKABLE IMMIGRATION REFORM
    1) Set a “HERE BY ” date (Jan 20, 2021.)
    2) Vet every asylum seeker, felons get deported.
    3) Photo ID, DNA everyone looking to stay.
    4) if you were brought here as a minor, you may apply for a path to citizenship (military service is the only fast track).
adults can get a guest VISA which is rescinded for felonies. They never get citizenship and get a 1 time pardon for ID theft.
    5) No public funds for (welfare , housing, food schooliong0 private funding is allowed (Hollywood?!?!)
    6) anyone that is here and commits a felony gets deported.
    7) Prioritize our hemisphere when able and increase number of openings as we need. Our needs, not theirs.
    8) Anyone coming here after Jan 20, 2021 will be deported and may never return for any reason (family, illness, trade, work, vacation, Diplomacy).
    9) build a WALL, dig a MOAT, fill it with ALLIGATORS, use E-Verify (punish employers), shut off access to sharia countries completely.
