You mean Mr Carlin never read Jack London’s sea stories: “The Sea Wolf”? “The Voyage of the Dazzler”? “Tales of the Fish Patrol”? Your teachers skipped over his boxing stories: “A Piece of Steak”? “The Game”? “The Mexican”? “John Barleycorn”, “The Iron Heel”, and “Martin Eden” never thrilled me much!
