Chicago Way w/John Kass: The 80/20 problem
Chicago Way w/John Kass (06/09/25): Prof. Charles Lipson, the Peter B. Ritzma Professor of Political Science Emeritus at the University of Chicago (whose writings can be found in the Spectator, Spectator World, The Telegraph, and more), is here to explain why Democrats keep ending up on the wrong side of ’80/20 problems’ and how American culture has come to a fork in the road that will decide the fate of generations to come. Plus, Kasso wonders why SEIU leaders are at the forefront the chaos happening on the streets of Los Angeles.

They wave Mexican and Palestinian flags as they burn police cars. Any more questions?
As a retired union member who began my career in 1973, I can clearly recall when all union memberships supported opposition to illegal immigration and supported tariffs, both which threatened the wages of their memberships. I always tell interested parties to go on YouTube and look up old tapes of Cesar Chavez who organized Hispanic farmworkers in the U.S. into the United Farm Workers Union (UFW) rail against illegal aliens from Mexico because the illegals threatened the wages of his newly organized union members. The present leadership of unions are selling out their members most basic right, i.e., fair wages, the reason for their existent in the first place.
Yianni,
Now all the world bears witness to the destruction of another, once great, American city. Thanks to all those “pie-in-the-sky” policies by the leftists and socialists that were elected as the residents were asleep at the switch. Californians are so into themselves, that they’ve forgotten that they are responsible for the government they elect, and now are paying dearly for it. Once again, the city burns, as paid demonstrators, no doubt from Soros’ pockets, continue to wreak havoc on LA. Fortunately, our president refuses to let these rioters go unpunished, and has mobilized extraordinary law enforcement to eliminate illegals, criminals, and rioters (no, not protesters) from our country. Stay tuned….
Leo, please don’t paint all of us Californians with a wide brush.
I am a conservative resident of the City of Los Angeles. I did not vote to install Karen Bass as mayor, nor Newsome as governor. Heck, thanks to gerrymandering, at one time I was put into Mad-Maxine Waters’ district. She never represented my ideals.
There’s plenty of red areas in California. I have confidence that many of the virtue signaling voters will eventually decide enough is enough.

Terry,
Forgive me. I lived in Long Beach for a year, and observed so many residents that didn’t seem to care about anything else but themselves, their toys, their beach time, etc. Thank God for a few level headed, sane residents like you. Sorry, I never met you then! Oh well,
I stand corrected. As for California’s future…let us pray….
Praying for California – I spent much time there a long time ago and was able to get to know real Western Californians who are dramatically different from the transients.
Was just up North, in Merrill WI – a town I consider to be a bellwether. The entire town was out at the Rock (Rock LLC) resort – a huge Trump backing venue – and no one at the Sawmill Brewery where there was a guy singing “Amie” from Pure Prairie league and other Lib classics – singing to no one, and that place is always packed with people. It was amazing, and I don’t think I imagined it so much
