Chicago Way w/John Kass: Pastor Brooks on how D.E.I. policies are hurting his community

Chicago Way w/John Kass (03/01/24): Corey Brooks, the Founder and Senior Pastor at New Beginnings Church & the Founder/CEO of Project H.O.O.D, joins John Kass & Jeff Carlin to talk about a brilliant piece he wrote titled “America Works. DEI Doesn’t.” Pastor Brooks also explains how politicians like Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson abandon his cause after they get their ‘poverty porn’ photo-ops and why ShotSpotter is a vital tool for understanding the gun violence plaguing his community. Plus, Carlin suggests that pastor host a counter convention on the South Side when the DNC invades the West Side.

  1. Pastor Brooks has got it dead bang right. His community, and others, are being held hostage by the useful idiots on the left.
They only care about holding the absolute power over everyone.
In my view, people are overly concerned about what others think of them. As for myself at 80 there are something less than 50 individuals I would be concerned about what they thought of me, as Popeye the Sailor once observed I yam what I yam” if you respect and or like me wonderful, if not go pound sand.
John’s former nemesis Eric Zorn once wrote about Bill Clinton saying”character doesn’t matter” defending Bill’ slack of same Without a strong character like Pastor Brooks you are worthless.

  2. Wow. Pastor Brooks is a very brave man. What he is talking about is metaphorically “old wine in new bottles.” By that I mean I first saw DEI – by another name – over 50 years ago when I was one of the few white boys at a HBCU medical school – Howard University. At that time there also was a heated discussion of whether merit – as judged by standard tests – was racist and should not be part of the Howard medical curriculum. Just like today, merit and competence, was denigrated by “black power” advocates … depicted as racist … derived from oppressive white supremacist western civilization. And therefore not applicable to black medical students. But the bravest man I ever met, Dr. Marion Mann, Dean of the medical school (Professor of Pathology, PhD in Pathology along with his MD and general in the army reserve) stood up to those ranting and raving about racist “white tests” and said all Howard students would take those standard tests and pass them if they wanted to stay at Howard. He was a man of few words. But he went on. He said there is no “white and black” in medicine … just excellence, merit and competence. Like Pastor Brooks he stood up against those favored then as now, who somehow believe the race to the bottom is the answer to African American prosperity and success in America. It’s an old story. And it’s a long story. Maybe some day I’ll tell it in full. But judging by Pastor Brooks inspirational narrative, its a repetitive story too.
