  1. The “City that worked.” Under old man Daley, the connected managed to wet their beak on projects big and small, but the coppers did their job and kept the bangers and hooligans (Sorry Houli!) under control. His famous police speech at the Democratic National Convention will never be forgotten. Business wanted to be a part of the City of Big Shoulders, not flee. Executives loved Beverly, Morgan Park , Sauganash, Edgebrook Montclair or LSD. The Bungalow belt kept things running .
I recall as a Frain Usher guiding the faithful on Ash Wednesday at St Peter’s or Old St Mary’s (under da tracks) to be marked. Not so much today as no one comes downtown. Under the current village idiot Chicago crumbles with poverty crime illegals galore and problems that need an adult in the room. Today too we have lost Rev Jackson. A hustler along with whatever good He might have done (can you say “Budweiser”? ). Glad I’m gone to a state that is well run in spite of 5 blue cities.

    1. Will his “love” child Ashley be one of the pallbearers for the most holy reverend, or maybe one of the Hymies he denigrated can carry the remains of the day.

  2. Houli –
