Chicago Way w/John Kass: Authoritarianism cometh from Springfield
Chicago Way w/John Kass (03/17/26): This week, the Honorable Judge James R. Brown (ret.) returns to the podcast with Brendan Philbin, Senior Counsel at the Liberty Justice Center, to discuss a federal civil rights lawsuit filed on behalf of Judge Brown, who was removed from his judicial recall appointment after Illinois Supreme Court justices retaliated against him for exercising his First Amendment rights as a private citizen. Plus, Kasso wonders if when we’re really faced with authoritarianism, will we recognize it?

Great show gentlemen, looking forward to following Judge Brown’s case on John Kass news.
Great interview. I pray Judge Brown wins this one. It’s always good to hear your mellifluous tone on the air.
John,
Fascinating discussion and so good to hear your mellifluous tones and self deprecation being the thread that holds it all together.
Was great to see VDH back on the Levin show on Sunday night and a real positive for all of us you guys are both back “in harness”.
Best

The Cook County Bar Association is one of the farthest left-leaning bar associations in the country. In fact, most, if not all bar associations are left-leaning. I know this, after practicing law in Chicago for 35 years. I was only a member of one, the CBA, and that was only for access to the dining room.
