Can Harris and Walz Keep Hiding Who They Are?

By John Kass

Aug. 11, 2024

Are Kamala Harris and Tim Walz just too weird to win election in November?

Or are they the two Democrats that America needs right now dammit, a special pair that have the unique ability to see what can be, unburdened by what has been?

I just can’t say. I’m just a guy who spent his life working in the American news media, much of that time writing a political column at a well-known conservative Chicago newspaper. But after the Black Lives Matter riots of 2020, the paper went woke and then broke and neo-Marxists took the newsroom. I hear them and what remains of the chattering class talking gibberish and jaberwocky about how “Democracy Dies in Darkness” with Harris avoiding any meaningful news conferences, and I’m just about as dazed and confused as the rest of you.

But nagging questions persist. Chief among them: Will Harris and Waltz continue to hide their true selves as what is left of a broken media covers for them?

For example, is is too weird to suggest Vice President Harris–a famous coddler of criminals and George Soros prosecutor zero who unleashed a national crime wave allowed masked thugs to smash-and-grab up t0 $950 in stolen goods a day–has now transformed herself into a stern border warrior who is tough crime? Or is her tough-on-crime pose and her feigned concern over the broken border simply more tapioca pudding shoveled at foolish infants?

And is her Democrat running mate Minnesota Gov. “Tampon Tim” Walz too weird for mandating tampons for middle-school boys at Minnesota schools?

Hmm. Are feminine napkins for schoolboys just too weird, or is all this in keeping with the pursuit of the new “fweedoms” Harris and Walz keep yammering about to their chorus at MSNBC?  It’s just rather confusing now that the left wing corporate “mainstream media” (which is anything but ‘mainstream’ ) allows Harris’ and Walz’ true identities to remain masked and hidden. But if they win this election will they finally reveal themselves as did the Jacobins of the French Revolution? Of course. Because by then it will be too late.

Currently, the true nature of the  Democrat Party remains hidden. The Jacobins could not win election if their first promise was to crush freedom and lop off the heads of the nobles. It all remains obscure, like their smiles.

And rather like the masks Americans were forced to wear in lockdown states with lockdown governors like Minnesota and Illinois, where we were discouraged from gathering together in our homes on the holidays. We were prohibited from attending church services on Sundays, and public schools were closed, but our political leaders allowed us to worship of sorts at box liquor store and get high on state-approved weed. Remember?

Today’s Democrat is not the Democrat Party I remember,  that party of Richard J. Daley in Chicago, the party that loved America like Harry S. Truman. But this Democrat Party preparing to gather in Chicago on August 19 is a gathering of Jacobins. They are all about selling abortion and racial hate. And as such they are nihilists, as were the French Revolutionaries. This is the Democrat Party that is driven to destroy the political system, the party that destroys the old icons and statues, the party that changes the foundational dates, from 1776 to 1619, the party that whips up racial animosity as they did during the insurrectionary Black Lives Matter riots of 2020. The party that sells abortions as “freedom.”

Have you forgotten the BLM riots to glorify the criminal George Floyd, the thug who held a loaded gun to the abdomen of a pregnant woman? Those the leftist riots in his name  destroyed Chicago and other cities like Minneapolis. Have you forgotten, even as the national news media wants you to forget? It was Gov. Walz who let Minneapolis burn, and he took days and days to call out the National Guard as his aides worried if the guard was diverse enough to handle the riots.

Remember?

His refusal to call the national guard? What was that? Or the lies he told about his own National Guard service while he abandoned his troops on the eve of war, like some cheap character in a movie like “The Four Feathers”? And what of Harris’ famous Bail fund during the BLM riots as Walz let Minneapolis burn?

During the Minneapolis BLM riots, Gov. Walz was criticized for being too slow to react, waiting days and days without action as Minneapolis burned to the ground. And his daughter was lit up using social media to tip off the rioters, and his wife opened the windows so she could smell the city burning. Did it smell like victory? Or did it smell like the dreams of the middle class, as their livelihoods and businesses burned?

My question: How did they fiddle as Minnesota burned and why has the media covered them? Answer: Because they and the media are hard left. They despise you.

As Walz wrung his hands, a suspect released with the help of a nonprofit organization operating a Minnesota bail fund endorsed by Vice President Kamala Harris was charged with murder. Shawn Michael Tillman, a repeat felon, shot and killed a passenger on a light rail platform in St. Paul, Minnesota in May after reportedly being released from jail for indecent exposure thanks to the Minnesota Freedom Fund (MFF).

I’m reminded that the stark policy differences between  Harris Walz and Trump Vance, differences that are just too glaring to brush away; on crime and taxes, regulations, the economy, energy independence, and the border that Biden, Harris and the Democrats have broken, allowing at least 10 million illegals to break into our country, and they’re provided welfare and other benefits courtesy of the American taxpayer.

“The people just won’t stand for it,” said a friend, a former longtime Chicago Daley Democrat now supporting Donald J. Trump. “The people just won’t take it,” he said.

They won’t?

I hope and pray that I’m wrong about this, but I’m not a dealer in Marxist incantations: I am burdened by what has gone before. In the west we call this history.

Think about it for a minute. The media hates conservatives and the middle class. And by the media I mean NBC, ABC, CBS, MSNBC, CNN, the New York Times, the Chicago Tribune, even the puppy training paper, the Sun Times, USA Today and the rest. I was among them for decades. I know how they think and what they think about you. They despise you as rubes. I remember now how they covered for the Democrats when the 51 intelligence officials lied and insisted the Hunter Biden laptop was a product of Russian disinformation (it wasn’t). But they got old Joe into the White House even though he was all but senile, to cement Obama’s third term.

And you haven’t forgotten the corporate media insisted that the Russia Collusion scandal was a scandal (it wasn’t) and on and on.

They gave themselves Pulitzer Prizes and other awards. They bragged that they protected the republic and although they’re going broke they’re still selling papers and TV and radio ads for the time being, so they’ll get through the next five, six months, selling the big lie to the American people who don’t want to believe that the corporate media is a racket for chumbolones. They’re running out the clock, just like Harris and Walz, and if they win the election they might show us the other side of their face. If they feel like it.

But by then it’ll be too late. If Democrats win this one, complaining about the First Amendment and how “misinformation” must be crushed out, I don’t think there will be any way to vote ourselves out of it. It’ll be done. They’ll have complete and final institutional control. They insist there’s no going back now, but what they want is to force us into their brave new world without gas powered cars, without gas stoves, where we shut up and forget and do what we’re told. There will be no going back for us from Room 101.

Walz won’t be so fatherly.  Harris won’t be our “Mamala.” But she’ll go back to laughing. And she’ll laugh and laugh.

    1. Exactly Mike,
I’ll probably be gone before the commies take full control but I fear for my kids and grandchildren.
It’s scary and frustrating, that feeling of being out-numbered by simple minded people controlled by the media, who believe every bit of BS that comes across their TV.
As you know, we are also battling the indoctrination in our schools at all levels. I’ve seen in my own family and with friends how the kids sent off to school come home and indoctrinate their parents with all the BS they’ve learned from the commies.
How can anyone even consider voting for Kamala cackles and Tampon Timmy??
      God help us!!!

          1. They already have. Catholic schools started teaching sometime during covid ban. Jelly Belly and his whore pols passed legislation that state his future quarantines apply to ALL SCHOOLS.

    2. Your loyal readers know what you wrote is true. I worry about the uninformed, low information voters. The ones who actually believe CNN MSNBC and still have a subscription to the Trub. I know a few and you can’t talk reason with them. I’m with Mike and Joe and lose sleep worrying about my children, grandkids. Divine intervention saved Trump from certain death for a reason. I hope and pray God knows something we don’t, yet.

  1. The most odious harpy in the media, Nicolle Wallace, lectured us on Harris & Walz “JOY!!!”

Feel the Joy emanating from this pair?

I have not had this much fun with my clothes on in decades!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Is that Joy? Or loose skivvies?

    https://www.msnbc.com/deadline-white-house/watch/nicolle-on-the-harris-walz-ticket-this-campaign-is-phenomenon-level-216842309708?fbclid=IwY2xjawElcqtleHRuA2FlbQIxMQABHe6XwZOj5bImv5ScTGUGU-DZVqPsGCtDQDpXhUzQfU-oguGGKOMAje1bqg_aem_XRfMrGZRudbnESg_Ez7oaA

    1. A big problem is that the leaks & publications like this are not generally read by those who could actually benefit from the information. Nope, they classify it all as misinformation & those of us who digest/promote it are bigots & misogynists.

  2. The Leftist media keeps crying that “democracy dies in darkness”. Isn’t the Leftist media the one providing the darkness by trying to pull the wool over everyone’s’ eyes?

  3. Good morning John. Yes they can win because the American Voter has been told over and over again and has brainwashed the young to believe that we are a Racist and Unjust Country. They do not want to know the truth and our Country is becoming a Third World Country and is run by the Few Rich People that want one World Order so they can become Billionaires, and Democrats want to Win so they never have to run for office again they can rule for always. I am afraid the American Voter is not smart or educated enough to know the truth. This woman was put in there without Votes and by Obama he is running the show. Wake up folks.

  4. The record of the Dems is, indeed, terrible, and they could be easily defeated if the Republicans weren’t captivated by a candidate who does his best to defeat himself and who is either disliked or despised,, largely because of his obnoxious personality, by a substantial majority of voters.

    1. I agree, David. The Democrats are horrible. And senile old Joe Biden was the only candidate that Trump could defeat. Now, however, the script has been flipped: Trump is the old geezer. And as you point out, Mr. Trump is a master at shooting himself in the foot. He will likely over the next three months do what he does best: pull defeat from the jaws of victory. Any other “normal mainstream Republican” would turn this coming election into a red wave … now likely the opposite.

  5. My wife admonishes me “Jimmy, you can’t save the world.” I’m not wired to cavalierly stand by as the nation sinks into some unrecognizable configuration of its former self. I will continue to ridicule the demonic leftists publicly on my social media posts and in public until I’m dead or they relieve me of my liberty to do so. In the name of my granddaughters, I’m ready for bear. This thing ain’t over, and I’m not participating in the dooming some right wing analysts have been spreading like a virus from China!

  6. That’s a great column, John, as hard to read as it is important to read. You saw the rise of leftist authoritarianism from a central location inside The Tower, while I’ve only seen it from once-sensible western suburbs of Chicago and Milwaukee. How did the Tribune and DuPage County deteriorate in a couple generations from conservatories of traditional productive values toward Brave Neo-Bolshevik Worlds?

I’m afraid we Baby Boomers are a big part of this deterioration. Too much privilege, too much righteous whining, the freedom to play with false idols and fake virtue.

I’m tempted to stop trying to write about the deterioration and concentrate on a less painful pastime of mine: following the White Sox.

    1. David-
Considering the state of the White Sox, even that provides more optimism than the rest of this stuff. It shows just how dark everything appears right now, but then, I guess that’s your point

      1. Ken,

Yep, my point was, as you nicely coined it, “dark everything.” Now that you’ve inspired me to think more about these dark subjects, they have similarities. Holding out hope for the Republican Party to make the best decisions is like holding out the same hope for Jerry.

    1. Yes , he, Gutfield, did nail it . And another thing , the next four years are it for Mr Trump , no reelection posturing , just get it done now . This is the guy I want in the room

    2. That is the best explanation I’ve heard of Donald J. Trump, and I thank you for enlightening me with it. (I’d pretty much given up on TV for news, etc., because of most of the negative content regarding DJT). He is the agent we all need to recover from the hell we’ve been in since Biden took over the chair as an Obama surrogate.

  7. If they win, do we as a “collective” since “the collective” is so important to them stop paying taxes? If 50% of us stop paying, the government stops.

    1. Not so. The gummint basically has a credit card with no spending limit. If we all stop paying taxes, the only thing that happens is the gummint goes further into debt … they will still spend … something the Democrats (under the delusion of MMT) don’t really seem to care about. And now with the extra thousands of IRS agents that Biden hired (some of whom apparently carry) you’ll just be arrested. LOL.

  8. John, you finished with “Harris won’t be our “Mamala.” But she’ll go back to laughing. And she’ll laugh and laugh.” You forgot to add – all the way to the bank.

And to those who question who would vote for all of this. Look at the polling, even if it is bias and skewed. There is still between 35-50% of the blind moronic fools out there. And of course there’s the 10 million or so votes waiting to be harvested too at 3 am. Let’s see if there is a meltdown here next week. If there is not, something that would make 1968 look like a crumpets and tea party, it’ll be a sign. A sign that the future will continue to look bleak.

  9. Everything you say about the possibility and future of a Democrat win in November is so very true. They’re ramping up the thought police to come after us with improve technology.

Their strategy of hiding from their true ideas seems to be working. Check out http://www.stosselodds.com to see how the people putting their money on it are betting. I may have to move to the far north woods after this election.

  10. I fear there are just too many democrats that would vote for a potato if they ran one – uninformed, blinded by hate and fear, they will do as instructed.

    1. Spot on, unburdened by what has been. College educated. They could run a jack ass…wait
Kamala does look like Mr. Ed when she laughs
      There ya go

  11. The media has engaged in Happy Talk. They have enabled the massive gaslighting to occur. Like the street corner peas under a cup con. They will fleece us every time. The sheeple will beat and blindly follow the sheepdog (thank you Soros and Obama) right to the ballot box and click the Harris Walz (waltz) button. If that is not enough there are all those ballots hiding away in dark offices to magically appear as needed at 3am in the ballot counting spaces. Distract the people is what the media does. Look at this shiny object here and ignore the FACTS of what is really going on. Sadly what I fear is more “mainly peaceful” protests if Trump Vance wins. Maybe a declaration of Martial law by Biden/Harris to maintain control of their government. I truly fear we are on the brink of a civil war. Chicago will show that you have to stand for a principle. The left has tried to be all things to all groups/factions. Somethings gotta give. God help us.

  12. Couldn’t agree more!
Everything you say has a point. Those days of rioting caused a lot of monetary damages to homeowners and business owners yet no one knows the actual cost. Insurance rates went up. I only saw a single line in the news on jacked-up insurance rates and even that was forgotten promptly. And of course, the list goes on. It won’t be until we are the new Venezuela that it will begin to matter. Then the damage is done and it will be 100X harder to return to where we should be.
I liked your Four Feathers reference: maybe you or Dan Proft should start a White Feather Fund and then when the DNC gets to Chicago as Walz waddles up to the podium, white feathers drop from above? If that is too ecologically unsound, how about a big blow-up white feather outside the convention center? After all, we are expressing our 1st Amendment Rights.

  13. I too fear for America because of this election. As inconceivable as it is to me that anybody would vote for this pair of Stalinist puppets, I know that millions of brainwashed Americans will. It sometimes feels like that we’re on the maiden voyage of the Titanic: the iceberg is obviously in the path, the danger is apparent but we are swerving too late to avoid the catastrophe. Lord, I pray that I am wrong!

  14. Who are Harris and Walz?
    Who are these people ?
    Harris says nothing about everything.
Walz taking groups of young boys to China – there’s a red flag.
Two Cheshire Cats smiling and laughing.

  15. ‘Joy’ and ‘enthusiasm’ do not equal policies. Are Americans capable of discerning the difference? I think not, but will pray and try to stay hopeful.

  16. Can people be this insanely stupid? I’m scared, really!!!
    Senior commander master sgt general
Gives me da willies. Everybody remembers the blowhard rah rah weird male teacher you just wanted to bust in the chops. Brown nose asshole and an idiot runnin for leaders of the free world. Hey less bloviating, more issues Donny. Scared

  17. Well, no wonder Kamala is so joyful and confident. Obama is orchestrating this whole thing for her, so he can have his fourth term. Secondly, hard-core democrats (and I have some friends that are) welcome this. They’re energized! She is going to unburden them by what has been. She is going to dave the country from Bad Orange Man.
Such crapp. Wake up, America, before we go totally and finally off the cliff.

  18. I wonder if any of my fellow veterans could be wilfully ignorant enough to vote for this far-left pair of hypocrites posing as everything they are not.
Is there enough time for someone, anyone to expose them for their true nature?
Is the American electorate collectively ignorant enough to not see through the barrage of lies the media has erected and vote for four or eight years of the same government they most certainly should hate after the last few years?
Let’s do everything we can to prevent that eventuality.

  19. Kalimera Yianni,
Glad to see you’ve got your voice back, strong and resilient, as always. In spite of the mainstream media’s con game, perpetrated to deceive us all, I sense the tide is starting to turn. As I look around, and read between the lines, it appears middle America has had it – is fed up with all this BS about the “new” dem party, which is really the Socialist Party of America, in its current iteration. Divide and conquer is their montra. So if they can keep us bikering and going after one another under the guise of “diversity and equity,” we won’t be able to discern what’s going on behind the curtain of OZ! Brilliant planning. However, I’m sensing the jig is up, and the longer Kam and Wally refrain from any meaningful news conference and/or exposure, most voters (aka chumbolones) are beginning to see through the facade created by the left, and dispense with fake and improbable “poster boy”candidates that the left has fashioned to mask the socialism stream that lurks beneath. But that’s just me! Na se kalla!!!

  20. Like you said, they’re going to run out the clock. Under normal circumstances, they couldn’t get away with it, but this time, with early voting, it’s just a couple of months. That’s a cinch. So as Mr. Kass intimated, it’s probably over for Trump. I think only a big time “foot in the mouth” by Harris can derail her. It will be imperative that Republicans win at least one house of Congress, else what got pushed through during the first 2 years of Biden, will look like child’s play.

  21. A wrenching lament, John. Gov. Awol-z delayed the Guard response by 3 days, so that Mrs. Awol-z could enjoy the wafting cache of Minneapolis’s future burning.
Watching Harris push her campaign mantra reminds me of the George Wallace screed: “Dead babies now. Dead babies tomorrow. Dead babies forever.”
    These are truly evil times.

  22. So long as the corporate media covers only Trump’s bombast, insults and mistaken utterances, all the while ignoring both his and Vance’s substantive remarks and Kamala’s shallow pandering, the public likely will never realize it is seeing intentionally fractured images of the candidates. Yes, Kamala and Walz are a ridiculous and potentially devastating tandem. I believe they could easily be defeated by a competent, persuasive and savvy opponent. Sadly, I don’t think that Trump is up to the task.

    1. Doesn’t matter. If he says nothing, they’ll just make crap up like they did with Bush, McCain and Romney. Trump’s the only Republican that takes their BS back in their collective faces, usually in a caustic, offensive and memorable manner.

  23. John, you are completely wrong. Harris wasn’t responsible for our border. The media told me so. Walz didn’t send his National Guard unit to deployment abandoning them before being sent to war. The media told me so. The economy is doing fine. The media told so. Walz didn’t create a hotline that encouraged people to inform on their neighbors during COVID so they could be arrested for having ” unauthorized ” visitors over to visit. The media told me so. The Harris/ Walz ticket is just what this country needs to save us from evil ” Maga Republicans ” who will erode our freedom. The media told me so. We are all lucky to have such guidance from our media that corrects any thoughts detrimental to our well being. This media is independent, fair and impartial. They constantly have to remind you of this in case you should develop any abhorrent opinions on your own. We should ALL be grateful that we have freedoms that are guaranteed by our constitution and we need to remove our Supreme Court to protect these freedoms. The media told me so. If our media says it’s TRUE then it is.

  24. Unfortunately true.
It’s also unfortunate that Donald Trump is the Republican candidate. January 6th should have disqualified him in voters’ eyes. (Maduro and the recent Venezuelan election, anyone?)
As Henry Kissinger said about the Iran-Iraq war: it’s too bad they both can’t lose.
Maybe vote only down-ticket and hope for a bipartisan deal out of the House of Representatives?

    1. Yes. We all need to listen to our media. They always tell us the truth. Fair and impartial. Thankfully they constantly remind us in case we should forget. MAYBE WE SHOULD SIT THIS ONE OUT. THE MEDIA TOLD ME SO. GET IT?

  25. Mr. Kass- Congrats on another well written but nasty article. Why do you use your God-given talents to divide rather than unite us? Are you really that hate filled?

The most intelligent article I have yet read on this site was Cory Franklin’s “Just A Couple of Inches Can Change History”.

I thought Mr. Franklin’s insights about the Trump assassination attempt were spot on. It is indeed terrifying to speculate about what might have happened if not for those couple of inches!

But it was so refreshing to read a piece devoid of all the unproductive hatred I normally see on this site.

Mr. Franklin made his points with no references to the Marxists, demonic satanists, leftist Deep State operatives, Deep State’s next Meat Puppet, Deep State three-headed dog, hateful flesh-eating castrating female hags, slimy bucketful of the evil minions who are destroying our Republic, Obama and his elitist cabal, the idiot mop-head press lady, and on and on and on . . .

Mr. Kass you are a smart, courageous, and talented communicator. Pls don’t give up on America. Those that politically disagree with you, as I often do, are mostly pretty good people.

Try a little harder to do as Jesus preached. Forgive your enemies.
“Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God” (Matthew 5:9)

    1. Oh, please. Anyone with a working brain wouldn’t have asked H.L. Mencken to write fairy tales or Ronald Reagan to send love notes to the Soviet Union. Today don’t ask John Kass to compose nice, smiley-faced messages about the faction that’s campaigning successfully to turn a nation of free speech and free markets into Venezuela North. Just keep watching MSNBC and purring like a cat.

The “nice” journalism you admire is available now on almost every American channel and what’s left of print. They’re pushing every left-wing myth possible — about everything from Hunter’s laptop to Harris’ competence. Stop wasting your breath telling Kass to turn into one more journalist toadstool. Ain’t gonna happen.

      1. Mr. Bittinger- I’m not asking for “nice” journalism. I’m asking for fair journalism and a return to civility in our disagreements. I’m asking John to at least try live up to those Christian ideals he so proudly endorses.
Don’t just despise those that disagree with you- explain your viewpoints with facts rather than insults and name calling. I realize that many people (and possibly you) have been influenced by a terrible role model over these past eight years. But I’m praying that this sad chapter in American politics will end after the 2024 election. There is a lot of time before November and anything can happen. But as of now I am increasingly optimistic.

        1. Being lectured on “a return to civility” by a contemporary leftist is hilarious . . . even though leftists now have no sense of humor. Terrible role model? Your role models don’t even have legitimate biographies.

Just don’t bother preaching civility while the politicians and media you admire are calling your opponents Hitler and attacking free speech. Preachers like you deserve the professional and personal intimidation that was showered on Kass by the Tribune Guild. But don’t worry. You’ll never get it.

          1. Mr. Bittinger- There you go again with the name calling. Usually that’s a sign of weakness and insecurity.
If your photo is current you are a lot younger than me. When I was your age I was just as cocky and sure of my opinions as you seem to be now.
Trust me. As you mature you will become wiser. And with that hopefully a little more humble. Some day you will learn that there are two sides to most issues. Mostly shades of grey, not the black and white that you probably want to believe now.

    2. So why are you here Bob? If you find the commentary beneath your high standards there is a simple solution: leave. No one put the proverbial gun to your head forcing you to stay and endure our “uncivil” commentary. And I for one find your high horse sanctimonious moralizing lecturing act a little old. So do you yourself a favor: leave Bob. Perhaps you might want to invest in your own blog where you can be in charge and demonstrate to us deplorables proper civil commentary. Until then Bob … as we used t say in NYC: Fuhgeddaboutit.

      1. Mr. Kleinman- Sorry if I’m making you feel uncomfortable. But don’t you think that a little healthy debate is a good thing? In my opinion one of main problems with our country today is that, more than ever before, everyone lives in their own little echo chambers. This site is a fine example. Almost everyone here is only reinforcing each other’s already strong opinions. Very little dissent. The same thing is happening on the liberal sites. It’s actually pretty funny- If you swap the labels – Democrat for Republican, Liberal for Conservative, everyone is saying the same things. Technology, for all it’s wonders, enables all this isolation and self-righteousness. It’s unfortunately pretty destructive.

The solution isn’t for everyone to keep fighting one another, thinking “our side will eventually win!”. If the people in this world can somehow figure out a way to get along the future is bright. Otherwise I think the future is ultimately bleak. I keep hoping but I’m not terribly optimistic.

        1. First of all I agree about healthy debate being good. But that is largely moot. Why? Because that is not the issue here. You are misinformed as to what this site is. It is not primarily a debating site. It is primarily a site for John Kass’ columns (the site is titled “john Kass News” specifically “Column John Kass”; not “Debate John Kass”) – his sometimes controversial but always amusing well written opinions – and his chosen guest columnists. Myself and (I assume) most other subscribers signed up for John Kass … his opinions …. his insights … his political acumen. We did NOT up for Bob Lee or Bob Lees’ opinions, insights, or acumen. That’s just the way it is. Mr. Kass at his discretion (and not yours) allows comments. He does not have to do so. There is NO First amendment mandate requiring him to do so on a private site. He ALLOWS comments. This is his site. Your screed regarding civil debate comes across to me as an attempt to commandeer his site, set rules for the site, or otherwise police the site. If you feel so strongly that John Kass News does not meet your definition of civil debate, then as I pointed out prior, there is a solution. Get off your butt, do the work, and create your own site where you can set the all the rules you want regarding “healthy” debate.

      2. Oh Bruce, how I have missed you! Yes, there are those among us who disagree with your POV, and I know how much that FRUSTRATES you! There is a power you believe you have in ordering dissenting POVs to vanish and disperse! Only, you don’t get to do that. This is an open forum, debate with civility, or, stop your incessant whining. You have no authority here, so much so that your arrogance brought me back. Worth the five bucks!

    3. YOUR Democrat Party leader stood in front of an Independence Hall lit to look like a cross between Nuremberg and the gates of hell and called half the country “semi-Fascist” and you’re telling John not to divide us by telling the truth about the Democrat Party?

      Hilarious.

  26. If we think that avoiding these two imbeciles will save the country we deceive ourselves. And Trump will not save us, nor will any other politician. However, electing him may buy some of us a little more time. But the real problem isn’t them, it’s us. The reason the experiment has failed, and it’s almost certainly too late for the country to recover, is that an insufficient number of people here value freedom enough to keep it alive. It’s fundamental and uncomplicated. I pray that I’m wrong. (once again)

    1. Grant Davies’ conclusion here — “it’s us” — is deeply true and goes to the heart of America’s problem now. The “experiment” is failing because, as GD wisely notes, not enough voters value freedom. I’d add that they also don’t want to recognize unsustainable debt or Orwellian propaganda.

      1. So true, David. When I mention to others (particularly younger left of center folks) our foundational principles: “checks and balances”; “separation of powers”; “government by the people, for the people and of the people” they ask me from where did I get that far right wing rhetoric?

And debt? Don’t matter. It’s called MMT.

        And Orwell? Who is he?

      2. Mr. Bittinger- It’s interesting that you equate freedom with your point of view and only your point of view. Do you not realize that good people who passionately disagree with you feel their freedoms are under attack?
Are you not familiar with Project 2025?
Do you not realize that a clear majority in this country believes in a woman’s right to choose?
Do you not understand that a clear majority of citizens don’t what the narrow religious views of a minority shoved down their throats?

  27. This has all been happening for quite some time now….longer than many of us care to recognize or acknowledge. The Oz character behind the ‘velvet’ curtain has been proving his mettle over a wide range of ‘opportunities’, and the gullible, trusting, “no time to actually think about this and understand it all” Americans have been happy to hop from toadstool to mushroom, happily on their way to who-kn0ws-where.

It has permeated every facet of our existence in the most insidious of ways, but we’re not willing to listing to those making the effort to help us think these things through for what they ACTUALLY are; what these people are really saying to us and doing to us….that we’re oh, so happy to acquiesce to. We are happy to play the role of the Scarecrow combined with the Mortimer Snerd-ish “yup, yup, yup!” and be on our merry way towards something or another.

I have in hand a copy cut from Mother Tribune dated September 1, 2008, a column written by the late Charles Krauthammer. It is 28 column inches of Krauthammer painstakingly sorting out the question of the day sixteen years ago. His title: “Just whom did the Democrats marry?” and he goes on to parse through how we ended up with a candidate coming out of the Democrat convention that no one really knew. His opening sentence: “Barack Obama is an immensely talented man whose talents have been largely devoted to crafting, and chronicling, his own life. Not things. Not ideas. Not institutions. But himself.”

Krauthammer concludes that long, fascinating article with this: “The oddity of this convention is that its central figure is the ultimate self-made man, a dazzling mysterious Gatsby. The palpable apprehension is that the anointed is a stranger – a deeply engaging, elegant, brilliant stranger with whom the Democrats had a torrid affair. Having slowly woken up, they see the ring and wonder whom eactly they married.”

They’ve polished their approach since then, and have learned the fine art of Just Call it Something ELSE! and we all go along with it!!! We allowed ourselves to shrug our collective shoulders when all of a sudden “The Supply Chain” wasn’t functioning like we’d come to expect, and American commerce went in the dumper. What happened? What did we fix or change? Nothing, of course….we were told by “the press” that that’s how it is, and we learned to willingly accept shortages of all sorts of goofy things – that got “fixed”.

We’ve become masters at ignoring the obvious. It is SO much easier! If we told the Black population that we’re going to murder Black babies by the thousands every single year, they would be beside themselves….sooooooo, we just sanitize the idea by giving it a different name, talk about how it is your “right” to do that, “hire” a third party to do the dirty work and get rid of the ‘evidence’, and we move on.

Those who wish to rule this country (that’s right – RULE the country rather than govern it!) just shrug their shoulders and keep going! The rhetoric that accompanied the last Presidential election, whether you agreed with Mr. Trump or not, was the continued declaration of the sanctity of the ballot-box! The VOTE! The American voters have spoken!!! Now, just a few short years later, the ‘Behind-the-Curtain’ crowd decided they didn’t like the outcome of the vote after 14,000,000 Americans voted, so they staged a White House coup d’etat, and America’s ok with it! The departing ‘victim’ flew them the bird one last time, came out for his imposed #2, and they’re now working at making her into some sort of a candidate…..and America’s ok with it! She picked a #2 who would scare the paint off the walls under normal circumstances. Their cause is aided and abetted by an “owned” electronic communication system, and by the lazy acquiescence of a “working press” that’s figured out they still get paid if they wear the make-up and sit at the desk and say what they’re told to say….and we collectively say “yup, yup, yup!”, marvel at the “word salad” (the new phrase describing this election cycle so far), and move on.

They knew we’d accept whatever they put in front of us – – – they proved that during Covid. The local mom and pop hardware store forced to close, but Home Depot was open; as others have mentioned – you could get drunk, or high as a kite, but you couldn’t go to church. Mothers knew better than to try to mask 3 year olds so they could all take a quick trip to the local grocery store – – or better yet, get it all delivered – – – but it is so much easier to not argue.

The more you watch the descriptions and the tapes of what happened to Trump in Pennsylvania, and watch the foolishness engaged in by the Secret Service that we always thought was so elite and so ‘very best’, the more you realize we’re being played for fools…..but we’ve become so predictable in our behavior, so unwilling to think or speak for ourselves – even a little bit – that a month after the tragedy averted by a fraction of an inch is pretty much no longer top of mind. It’s “there”, but hey, the Secret Service is investigating itself, so it will all be just fine. You can bet on it…..

America is precious few months away from a version of Krauthammer’s headline, only this time it will be “Just whom did the Americans marry?” and we’ll wake up, and we’ll see the ring, and we’ll wonder….but by then, the ‘act’ will have been consummated. And then we’ll remember – – – Kass and a few hearty souls of his character and brave spirit spoke out…….was it only to the wind????

  28. I am a woman of hope, pressing on for the best without denying the risk of the worst.
    Hope. Because…
The DNC Convention hasn’t happened yet with its risk of 1968 redux rioting or lifting the mask for the very ugly side to show because there are many radicals in their midst.
There’s the awakening of Chicago’s large Jewish population to see who Kamala chooses as bedfellows to fulfill “River to the Sea” in the Middle East.
Speaking of death of loved ones, mothers will need to awaken to realities of WWIII (as men and no-longer-defined women experience the draft together. After all, the military has been hemorrhaging recruits during the Biden years). Are soccer moms prepared to lose their sons and daughters in Ukraine, the seas around Taiwan, or the Middle East with IEDs ripping their children’s limbs off?
Then there’s crime. It’s hard to care about abortion as a priority when you might get knifed to your death after being raped by released criminals or gangs. They don’t let their rape victims live.
Just maybe someone will remember Trump’s economy, law and order border policies, and the peace he fostered. Maybe voting Republican is more palatable to avoid extermination of one’s heritage homeland or the neighborhood outside their suburban homes.
The main reason I hope is… “But God”—two of the most amazing words ever spoken. But God is the reason a half inch separated Trump’s head and a bullet. But God is the reason a mechanical failure didn’t take down his plane in Montana. For whatever reason God would choose a flawed man like Trump is not my place to criticize. On the DNC side, we see “steal, kill, and destroy” which are devil-tools. Taxation. Abortion. War. Those are the wrong side of ultimate history, and I’ll choose God even if He chooses a flawed man like Trump as the only choice for people who value America.

    1. Ms. Shafer- If you want to believe it was God’s intervention that saved Trump from that assassin’s bullet then I guess you believe that God intervened to allow Corey Comperatore, a good man trying to protect his family, die and two others get seriously wounded. That’s awfully insulting to their families!

I assume you conclude that God intervened in the 2020 election to make Trump lose?

When Trump loses in 2024 will you accept that as God’s will also?

  29. Sadly, these 2 morons will win and that potentially will be 16 years of woke.
The wealthy, white, wacky, weighty, white women of the left run the plot iCal machinery. The GOP is afraid to confront them on the drag queen, sex change operations on minors, tampons in male bathrooms, male women in sports causing injury to real women, etc. There are bcuz some GOPers in politics support it. They need to hit and hit hard on this. Megyn Kupelly is doing a good job on her podcast. Watch it

  30. The important questions I want answered are: Will Trump be able to put the B.S. act he puts on for his core followers, and realize that none of the rest of us care about his many resentments, or want to hear about Harris’ race or low IQ? And will independents and Democrats be savvy enough to see through the B.S. they’re being fed by the DNC and the media? I fear we’re seeing the last dying gasps of our Republic, and truly awful things coming our way. Maybe as a nation we deserve it.

  31. John Kass, thank you for this spirited column. When reading the second paragraph, I thought you had taken to plagiarism of Kamala….but I continued…thank God!
Yes, I pray for you every night and so happy to have a journalist like you putting forward truth and facts. Yup, MSM and our local rags are so liberal it will not take much for their tilt to be socialistic communistic in all pages.
Thank you again to hang in there and remain the spirit we all need to remain steadfast in our desires for Faith, Family and Freedom.. I am thinking of extending those 3 Fs into 4 adding Friends.
God bless you and yours John Kass and keep on keeping on.
    Tom

    1. Judging by his comments here, Mr. Lee sounds like your standard low info Democrat dupe. What he knows about Project 2025 is that it’s part of the Republican Platform and will make all women wear Handmaid’s Tale outfits and establish a theocracy in the US. He has no clue that it’s a policy paper from Heritage Foundation and that Trump has said he’s not familiar with it. Unless of course, he’s actually a Democrat apparatchik who’s in on the scam and is trying to sucker gullible voters.

      1. Project 2025 is over 900 pages. So I’m betting you are correct. I doubt Mr. Lee has spent much time reading the primary source. Most likely he is just parroting the puppeteers in the NYT and WaPO. If Mr. Lee even devoted five minutes to scan the project he would note that one (of four) political goals is to “dismantle the administrative state and return self-governance to the American people.” No where in the US Constitution is there any mention of a legislative body uncountable to the people, unanswerable to the Congress or the Courts. The present administrative state as constituted is clearly unconstitutional. It is a mark of how far the DP has deviated from the original vision of our Founders, that folks like Mr. Lee likely look upon deconstructing the administrative state as a vast undemocratic right wing plot when it is in fact an attempt to return to our original democratic principles …. which are now viewed as the alien enemy of the people.

  32. John I wish you had a bigger platform. I wish we had a Republican candidate who didn’t generate so much hatred from the left. I wish suburban white women would stop their obsession with abortion and think about the next generation of children being born. I wish racial politics were not so effective or so dishonest. I wish we didn’t have so many neo-Marxist who hate the Founding Fathers and the concept of limited government. I wish the press were honest. But I seem to live in a world determined to let self-described “elites” control us. Sell our freedoms for student loan forgiveness, unlimited abortions, and greater government control over our lifes

    1. Hate to break it to you Dan, but the left will generate this level of hatred for any Republican that puts up an actual fight. Hell, look at the hatred they generated for Bush and Romney, two squishes, just for daring to run.

  33. John,

The quick answer to your question of “Can Harris and Walz Keep Hiding Who They Are?” is “yes” as they have the complete cooperation and help of the national and local media outlets.

Let me add that for anyone who had doubts, Tim Walz proved he was a coward when he let Minneapolis burn.

  34. Mr. Kleinman, Lygiros, McGreal, Mr. Bittinger, and others-

I bet you are fine people in almost every way and we have more in common than you think. I can assure you I’m no low information voter. Also, until the Bush-2 era I was a lifelong Republican.
I wish I could talk to you in person. It’s so disappointing (alarming?) to see the level of vitriol that has descended upon so many. Most people I know have political opinions similar to my own. Relatively liberal on some issues- more conservative on others, and everything in between. All every bit as patriotic as you. Sure, it’s simpler and satisfying to demonize those that disagree with you. It’s comforting to interact only with those of a like mind. Technology and sites like this make it easy to do so. But please reconsider. Tribalism is not good for America. We have real enemies out there.
The fact is a majority of Americans are not Trump fans. They are not leftists, satanists, puppets, freedom haters, neo-Marxists, Deep State’s next Meat Puppets, elitist cabalists, or any of these other labels so freely used. They have good reasons to support alternative leaders.

I’m trying to understand where all this hatred comes from.
I understand there are many causes. But I do think it’s indicative of how far this nation has digressed under the influence of Mr. Trump’s style of politics. And I believe his brand is fading fast and he more than likely will lose yet another election. My hope is that, similar to McCarthyism from the 50s, the worst elements from the Trump era will soon be tossed onto the trash-heap of failed ideologies. Perhaps then we can get back to a more productive manner of problem solving. God willing.

    1. I’ve spent years trying to understand the root of all this anger and hatred. I have some theories… In John Kass’s case, his Conservative principles metastasized when he left the Trib, and he has only become angrier and more self righteous, and like allot of other MAGA talking heads, he attracts the bitter (or, in my case, the alternate POV..). As to what is the REAL source of that bitterness? Same as it’s always been, fear and change. The strapping young High School football QB becomes a frail old man, and that’s hard to accept. Happens to us all.

    2. Stop with your sanctimonious gas baggery Bob. You don’t want a discussion. You want to lecture and proselytize. You make inane assumptions about people you don’t even know. For instance genius I have never voted for a Republican presidential candidate … ever. Mostly democrats as a young man, then as I got older libertarian candidates. But the reality was and is that in deep blue Illinois my vote did not count anyways. I was disappointed in Trump only because it was obvious to me that almost any other Republican would have turned the upcoming November election into a Republican landslide. Now we are faced with the neo Marxists taking control (yes Bob, Kamala and Walyz are far left neo Marxists. I know. Inconvenient. Right?) Furthermore you clearly are a low information voter as judging by your ignorant comments regarding policy 2025 and abortion. First, if you made any effort to read Project 2025 – and it’s obvious you have not – you would realize one of the main thrusts was a deconstruction of the administrative state. That would be the governmental vision conceived by Wilson and Goodnow over 125 years ago and constructed by FDR with a later assist by LBJ. If you know anything about Wilson and Goodnow you’d know that they viewed the Founder’s governmental structure – separation of powers and checks and balances – as a hindrance to the governing of modern nation state. Wilson and Goodnow viewed the Founders vision as an artifact of a particular time … 18th century America … and not as a timeless insight derived from the nature of man. In their view (Wilson and Goodnow) the only way a modern complex state – such as the USA – could be successfully governed was via objective, non partisan, disinterested “experts” free from the passions of politics. And the only way their vision could possibly be consistent with our constitutional structure was via the concept of delegation of powers (see Article I Sec I, as opposed to “non delegation”) … which the SCOTUS has never definitively ruled upon. This is in fact the scheme which Eisenhower warned against in his 1960 Farewell address and is now how our government effectively operates … indeed far from the original vision of our Founders. Now as far as your misleading statement regarding abortion these are the facts: the vast majority of Americans are AGAINST abortion in the third trimester. A lesser majority are against abortion sometime in the late second trimester … and a large majority of Americans SUPPORT abortion rights in the first or early second trimester. So stop your bullshit.

  35. Watching MAGDOM melt down over the dramatic shift in the political winds has been almost as entertaining as the Olympics opening ceremonies (I’m a HUGE Gojira fan!!) What’s lost in all the old, cranky white guy hysteria is how predictable it all was. No one, not right wing echo media, not Trump, not the GOP, not the white supremacist influencers that prop up MAGA, understood just how DESPERATELY American wanted an alternative to Biden/Trump. A candidate who speaks a language understood by Americans under the age of 35, not a voice based in grievance, fear, bigotry, lies and
condescending, but one of compassion, common sense, and above all-hope. The Trump show is ending, it’s old, tired, bitter and ignorant. The GOP could have run a competent new voice in a candidate like Nikki Haley (she would have had my vote..) but instead clang to an old crank no one can relate too, and no one trusts. Trump’s presser in Chicago was an absolute disaster, an unhinged racist and narcissist lashing out at those who DARE ask him a challenging question! His “billionaire buddies” live (not so much) stream was worse, which is saying something! I had tuned out the Trump show, but now I can’t wait to see how it ends. I have a theory… (:

  36. I told my daughters (both young women now) , I am voting for Trump because I don’t want their cousins going off to war. Harris/Walz means foreign wars.
