  1. Parents have to be responsible for their kids, period. But, what no one seems to talk about, these are mostly black kids. What’s happening in their communities and what are they being taught in terms of respect for people and property? The attitude, “that I have to get mine”, because I am due something has to stop. No one owes you anything, rather you work for what you get. If you don’t go to school, and don’t do the work, what kind of life do you think you will have? I grew up in a single parent home in the projects of Chicago. My mother made $40 a week, raised 3 kids, but taught us respect for the laws and the difference between right and wrong, and stressed education. We all graduated with MBAs and went on to have great careers.

    1. Robert, agreed 100%. May I add, the Chicago Public School system from Russell Square Elementary to Chicago Vocational High School prepared the students for life beyond school.
I’m grateful for the education afforded me and my sibling who all went on to attain College educations and enter adulthood as productive members off our communities. Unfortunately, that’s not available today in the public school system of our city.

  2. Glad the comment section is back Kasso! What makes this kids out of control thing so ridiculous is that people act like it’s some new phenomena. Kids have always been rebellious and wild. What’s new is that certain sectors of the population don’t or won’t recognize they are are responsible for their actions. Perhaps because of massive single parenthood for generations, the welfare state and lack of education or that many of the problem parents are kids themselves, they al seem to think it’s not their responsibility. I’m amazed that the so called black leadership in the city and society in general let this go on. I guess as long as they get their monthly check they didn’t earn , they just don’t care. Easier to be a victim and whine on tv. I can guarantee that south shore parents did not act like this when I grew up there in the early 1950s

  3. Speaking of words, how’s about we change how the city leaders and journalists talk about these actions.

Calling them “teen takeovers” or “teen trends” is a sanitization of the descriptive language that makes it sound like innocent, youthful mischief.

It’s time to tell it like it is! These are thug mobs of 99% black people (many way past teenage years) whose intent is intimidation and destruction.

Cops are told to de-escalate and are prohibited from pursuing. In the rare event that some get caught for the more egregious actions, they are usually back out on the street within 12-24 hours. As a result, my home city, yes a very beautiful place, is dying a death by a thousand cuts.

Everyone is afraid to call out what is plainly evident due to the accusations of racism that are always brought out and used like a cudgel.

Speak the truth, and it shall set you free.

  4. Many thanks to Chicago Way sponsors Joseph’s Meat’s, Kribi Coffee and Chevy dealers.
The Chicago Way message board is enjoyable when civil. Abuse by trolls reflects the overwhelming hostility leftwingers exhibit everywhere they go. We saw it at the Columbus statue riots, the Tesla mobs and the hate groups who seized control of Broadview.

A question for physics instructor Jeff Carlin : is shapeshifting possible ? Every day on TV we see the mayor of Los Angeles as a sinister creature identical to Toni Preckwinkle.
It’s like villainous Proteus of Greek mythology, who could elude his challengers by transforming into a serpent or leopard.

The Luigi Mangione cult is following a playbook familiar to Texas law enforcement. After murdering a federal judge on Memorial Day 1979, assassin Charles Harrelson built a cult following among conspiracy theorists, gullible media and Hollywood Democrats.
Chief among the publicity hounds are his sons Woody Harrelson (who blames his father’s convictions on judicial corruption) and Brett Harrelson, who cashed in on the pro-assassin bandwagon with a Spotify podcast “Son of a Hitman”
