Chicago Way w/John Kass: Old age and doing time
Chicago Way w/John Kass (06/02/25): This week, John Kass & Jeff Carlin discuss the merits of President Donald Trump commutating the federal sentence of notorious gang kingpin Larry Hoover and feds seeking to put former Illinois Speaker of the House Mike Madigan in jail for 12 years at the age of 83. Plus, Kasso urges everyone to take some time and enjoy the outdoors while we still can.

Don’t feel too bad for Madigan. He’s going to be sent home with an ankle bracelet and a (rest of his life) subscription to Netflix. He’ll die in his bed eating a Home Run Inn pizza making phone calls on the heater phone provided by daughter Lisa….
John, been a follower for a long time. I think you are being a hypocrite feeling bad for Madigan going to prison. You point out how screwed up Illinois is with taxes, debt, gerrymandering and that this has been going on for a long time. You even left Illinois because of this. Madigan has been around and wielded almost complete control for a long time. He is one of the biggest reasons Illinois is in such bad shape. Starting with the 69-70 Illinois state constitution where he was one of the delegates. Remember written into this constitution was that state pensions couldn’t have any benefits removed that has led to the tremendous debt owed by these pensions. Also he is the one who led the way to our terribly gerrymandered election districts that guarantee supermajorities by the democrats even though republicans are 40+% of the voters in Illinois. Just because he is now an old man doesn’t mean his punishment shouldn’t fit the crime, which we all know was much worse than what he was charged with at this trial.
