News Update at johnkassnews.com

February 12th, 2026

I want to share something personal with you, my loyal friends and subscribers:

I am facing another recent health challenge, and for the next couple of weeks I won’t be able to write or record new episodes.

What matters most to me right now is letting you know how much you mean to me. Your support, your loyalty, and the simple fact that you choose to spend some time with my work have always been a source of strength. Even in this moment, I’m carrying that with me.

I hope you’ll keep me in your prayers, and please know that I’m keeping you and your families in mine. I’m looking forward to being back with you soon, grateful as ever for your support.

In the days to come we will have guest writers providing interesting informative commentary.

Stay tuned,

John Kass

  1. John,
My prayers for your health and a successful treatment for whatever it is that ails you. Your column is one of the few “bright lights’ in an otherwise dark world. I started following you when you were at the Tribune and I appreciate your candid views about what’s good and right about our country. I ditched the Tribune when they offered a new online service, it sucked big time, now subscribe to the Sun Times and WSJ. I also subscribe to my hometown paper, The Killeen Daily Hearld. What am I doing in Wheeling? Easy, my wife and I help care for our 6 year old grandson Evan. I am an 84 year old grandfather, retired Army CWO4, Christian and lover of America, warts and all. God bless you and your family.

  2. Good luck, John. I’ll pray for you. You’ve become a trusted friend over the years via your columns in the paper and here, even though I have never met you in person, which says a lot about your writing.

  3. Kasso, as much as I give you a hard time, I am indebted to you. You played a huge part in educating me about the machine and exposing the Democratic mind games and utter disregard for the general public. We disagree on many things, especially any implied or explicit virtue on the other “side”.

But I know how many people out there love you. I know how much your family loves you. Your readers value your opinions, your judgement. Of course we all want you back. We hope you can be as close to pain free as possible and continue to bask in the love of your family. That is what really counts.

  4. I’m so sorry to hear this John. I wish you strength along with many prayers for you and your beautiful family. We’ll all be here and waiting however long it takes Sir. May God hold you in his hand.

    1. Get well soon Mr. Kass. You have brought light to me and inspiration to maybe write some day. And Leo, sir – I have learned the very real power of prayer here and thank you

  5. Take care. We all want you back soon. But don’t rush it.
We want back writing, educating us and making us laff, cry and in some cases angry. But it’s always enjoyable!

  6. Over the years, in print, or on the podcast, you have become a “friend” to me and many many thousands of others across the country. A person who speaks truth and shares wisdom, humor, and love. Prayers of support and care will be continued for you daily John, and you will be thought of often.
    Best Always,
    Bill

  7. Best wishes and prayers your way. I just got an e-mail from a retired Cop Friend in Arizona, he said that he had seen some comments that I had made on John Kass News. He also said that the money he spent to become a member of John Kass News was the best $$ he’d ever spent. So you have a fan in Mesa, Arizona.

  8. John, I’ve enjoyed your writings for many years. As a Pastoral Minister, this was my favorite prayer to say with inbound Catholics when i brought them Holy Communion, as i say it for you now. May the Lord be with you to protect you. May He guide you and give you strength. May He watch over you, keep you in His care and bless you with His peace. Amen.

  9. Journalism is no stroll-through-the garden, and the heavy lifting of a newsman takes it’s toll.
Stay strong, and keep smiling John.
Your column is in the capable hands of gifted guest columnists like Pat Hickey, Jimmy Banakis, Corey Franklin, David Bittinger, Paul Sperry, Marie T. Sullivan, Steve Huntley and Paul Vass.
    That’s a winning team !

  10. John:
I am a Knight of Columbus & our Council will be praying for you. I read have your column for years in the Tribune & now your website. We need more Conservative but fair news. My Father ran into you at Gene & Georgetti about 20 years ago. He said you couldn’t have been nicer. Dad is in Heaven now, but I’ll ask him watch over you. Best to you & prayers for your recovery!

  11. John,
You and your family are in our prayers. Your name is written in my book of prayer intentions, for healing grace for your mind & body & spirit. And for the strength & the courage to face all your difficulties.
Looking forward to your return! 🙏💕

  12. John, you’ve had our collective backs for a long time. We should be the ones thanking you! Take care of yourself, Sir. Sending well wishes for you to be on the mend and back to doing what you love doing soon!

  13. John,

I am so sorry to hear this. I will keep you in my prayers. It has been a tough year for the political pundits that I love to read. I hope you get better soon

  14. Praying for quick healing and strength for Betty as you get treatment! “Our God is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work in us” Ephesians 3:20

  15. Brilliant writing backed by fearless character is a treasure and a rarity. Our favorite columnist has been all that for over 28 years. He’s also a gumshoe sleuth of Machine-buried truth. Also lots of fun — at the Moutza start of every month, even through the tragedies of a city decline that’s otherwise produced mostly lies and moans.

I’ve already expressed feelings about him that embarrass me (an old-school guy) a little bit. Maybe now I could add similar feelings about this miraculously-created JKN community. I read Tom Winike’s eloquent Comment this morning and didn’t know whether to cheer or tear up. Best to all of you. Kass forever.

  16. Good morning John

Not the best news John. becoming more and more typical with the Boys in our age Group.

You hang in there. We’ll all be praying for you. I am sure that somewhere along that glorious
Lincoln highway in NW Indiana there’s a Greek restaurant that knows you well and that they have some Good Home made chicken soup for you.

Get some rest… Looking forward to some good news in the updates.

Just had a minor surgery myself. One of my favorite verses brought me a lot of peace both before and after. Isaiah 41:10 Fear Not! I Am With Thee.
THat pretty much sums it up

  17. John, you’re in my thoughts and prayers. Wishing you the best and a speedy recovery. You mean a lot to myself as well the hordes of people here day in and day out.

You’ve created more than a news page here. I’ve said it before, you’ve created a family. There are many bonds here because of you. You’re one special kind of guy.

  18. God bless and be with you during your infirmity, John. Of course, you and your family are in all of our prayers for recovery and future good health. Looking forward to your next column, but until then we will enjoy the great writers you have on your site. Thank you for all you do to keep conservatism alive in this sometimes godforsaken state.

  19. My apologies for not commenting sooner. There was a glitch in your website but your support team got it all fixed up for me.
So, I just want you to know I’m sorry you’re facing another health challenge & I’m saying prayers for you & Betty. May God bless you & keep you. We’ll be here when you’re ready!
