Elections Send Deep State Rats Scurrying in Panic

Many years ago when I was 20 years old, I had no inkling about ever becoming a news reporter  and writing on presidential politics.

I was a kid at sea with money in my pocket, and a whole world out there just waiting for me with novels to write.

It happened this way:  HMV Poseidon—our rusty old Liberty ship—was heavy with grain from New Orleans, bound for Lagos, Nigeria. It took us a long 40 days in that slow boat, riding low in the water to cross the Atlantic. Our top speed was almost 10.5 knots and we crisscrossed the ocean dodging bad weather. When the weather was fine we’d sit up in the bow during off hours at night, watching the dolphin run with the ship in the full moon. Singing Dylan songs, remembering a girl from the North country, and boots of Spanish leather.

The rainy season was beginning. Clouds were low, the sun was red in the sky. The sea was flat calm, still like oil without a ripple as we approached the Nigerian coast and the mouth of the River Benin. Schools of thousands of flying fish were breaking the surface, gliding, flying, their wings catching the red of the sun.

And down below in the cargo holds full to the brim with grain were those rats gorging on grain, getting as big and fat as toy dogs.

We took the River Benin to the village of Koko and pulled up there to unload our cargo. There were fires burning from the oil rigs. People were everywhere. I wanted to make a career of the sea, with a command of my own, after graduating from the Merchant Academy. But what I didn’t know is that I was deathly allergic to grain dust.  Right then though, I was responsible for unloading the cargo, five full holds of American grain.

I remember a dockside bar, just two empty oil drums and plywood under a stretch of canvas tarp. They served gin and lukewarm beer, and someone had put on a tape of The Temptations Greatest Hits.

The grain elevators extended a large vacuum to suck up the grain.

And that’s when the rats started moving. You could see the furrows they made in the grain the way Warner Brothers cartoon characters would make furrows, faster and faster, panic mounting as the grain disappeared. They had no place to hide.

Soon, with the grain sucked up into the elevator, the rats were exposed.

When exposed, they were in mindless frenzy with rats bouncing on the walls. We could hardly see down there, swinging our scoop shovels, bashing angry rats in the darkness, and one man screamed:

“I be bit! I be bit!”

Even when exposed, these rats were dangerous.

It was 48 years ago, and I’ve never forgotten it. I never wanted to experience it again.

But I have experienced it lately in these final days of this incredible 2024 presidential campaign, with former President Donald Trump taking on the Obama regime Deep State operatives that, like the rats, are finally exposed. And they don’t like it. They’ll do anything to protect themselves.

It’s garbage time now, with much hysteria and screaming, a close race with rat hysteria demanding this one or that one be disqualified. Even President Biden is rolling in the garbage, letting Republicans know exactly what he thinks of  them as his press office tries to twist history and official White House stenographers rebuke the scurrying Biden White House. And the shrieking lefty ninnies of CNN like Jim Acosta and MSNBC seek cover.

And CNN anchor Jake “the Fake” Tapper was giving valuable air time to old Nancy Pelosi who was talking about how we desperately need integrity in our politics. Where was her integrity and love of “democracy” as implemented the Obama-led coup against Joe? And since then, their agents in the media have been selling panic to get out the Kamala Harris vote.

So much for the dunghill that is modern American political journalism. The hard left has taken the news.

And Deep State operatives, like the rats on the Poseidon, have no place to  hide. Where do they go?

All weekend CNN and MSNBC have been yammering that Trump wanted to put neo-con Liz Cheney before a firing squad. But that’s not what Trump said. He said that war hawks like Cheney–like her father who spilled thousands of American lives in needless endless wars–should know what its like to have rifles trained on them. Trump was right, and America understands what he meant. Especially American parents who don’t want their sons to die in one of those needless neo-con wars, in a country most of us couldn’t find on a map. We’re done.

My brother Nicholas has unique expertise on Deep States and how they work, what drives them, what nurtures them. He has spent over 30 years serving the U.S. government at CIA, State Department, the White House National Security Council, the National Intelligence Council, and many years overseas.

He put all this out in two comprehensive essays, in “Lessons From a Turkish Coup” in The American Conservative, and another in American Greatness entitled “The ‘Deep State” and the 2024 US Presidential Election: Down to the Crossroads.”

“Aware of the Deep State, will voters finally condemn it as fundamentally un-American? Or will they disregard, or worse, embrace it and thereby affirmatively consent to their own subjugation?

As he wrote then:

“Today, the various extralegal impulses and orchestrated political-bureaucratic information operations that helped shape and drive the sustained attempt to oust Trump from office are now arrayed to incarcerate him and ban him from public life. Pundits, professors, and professional analysts would refer to this process as a coup d’etat if applied to similar situations in other countries.”

And now, with almost 50 years since that night of the rats, as former Republican President Donald J. Trump and his running mate, Ohio Sen. J.D. Vance wildly swing scoop shovels in the dark, please consider what those Deep State operatives in our country would have you ignore:

Like the Russiagate Hoax, and the phony impeachments, and the Obama regime using corrupt President China Joe Biden and the FBI to target American parents as potential terrorists for opposing the left’s trans agenda and reaching to pray with the Latin Mass.

Remember specifically that Russiagate hoax, which was not only a lie by Deep State operatives  to paint Trump as a Putin stooge, but also a lie by those who brag that they are the guardian flame in the darkness protecting democracy itself. The legacy corporate media routinely lies to all of us, and the American people have turned their backs on the news.

And the phony Trump impeachments, the government fronting the suppression of important reporting, and the repression of social media as the Deep State operatives put their greasy thumbs on the scale.

From Mika Brzezinski’s fake tears to downplaying the migrant gangs taking over apartment complexes and trying to back conservatives down. But J.D. Vance doesn’t back down, which is why they hate him so. And all the screaming of the left, they call for civility and denounce Trump as Hitler for the 10,000th time? After he’s already been shot in the head and survived another assassin?

They want him dead. They used lawfare to jail him and shut him up and he refused to shut up. And that’s one reason the American people have turned off the media. After nine years of lies, they don’t think about soiling their hands with journalistic garbage for a nugget or two of truth. They’ve shut down.

As Nick wrote they’re exhausted by constant media hysterics continuing to this day about prospects for an actual military coup—and threats to upend the constitutional order through hinted-at violence against elected officials—and all this is legitimized by Democrats and their praetorian corporate media as potentially necessary to derail Trump’s alleged bid for authoritarian rule. A journalistic subgenre has emerged, with the corporate media whitewashing and even approving and encouraging military and bureaucratic “resistance” and insubordination against Trump.

They’ve insisted upon soft-pedaling the extremely violent destructive and murderous Black Lives Matter riots as “mostly peaceful protests” though cities like Minneapolis was burned and downtown Chicago was torn apart, with businesses destroyed, as left wing political leaders from  Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz to Chicago Democrats including Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker sat by doing nothing for fear of angering the Democratic mob they themselves had weaponized against Trump.

The constant stream of bias and lies have been astonishing, especially as the Obama regime portrays conservatives as the authoritarian menace, and all those lies were reinforced by so-called corporate legacy journalists.

Have Americans forgotten we were told in no uncertain terms that we must never speak the words “China virus” and that the virus was not leaked from a lab? “My patience is wearing thin!’ warned Biden, and his bagman son and the rest of the Biden family reaped cash from Chinese intelligence operatives, as corporate media gave itself journalism awards for their coverage of the Russia-gate hoax, as ChinaJoe Biden declared Covid-19 “an Epidemic of the unvaccinated!”

And legacy corporate media “journalists” lied and lied for them.

The Deep State operatives lied about the border. They about how crime was under control. They lied about Afghanistan, about insisting that Ukraine was a democracy like ours (it wasn’t). They lied to suppress solid reporting by the New York Post about the corruption revealed in the Hunter Biden laptop. They used their Deep State leverage with the Obama regime to kill real news stories and squeeze and shadow-ban legitimate questions from the American people.

They told us Biden was mentally sharp, “at the top of his game.”

Oh, and whose cocaine was that?

Anyone who stood up to it was subject to the Jacobin reign of terror they inspired in corporate America under their control. Those who stood up against the hard left Soros prosecutors had their reputations smeared. If you opposed them you were a tool of Putin or a fascist. I’ve seen a few former journalistic colleagues succumb to the Jacobin pressure. A few must be pleased, fat and happy.

But they’ve killed journalism.

His anonymous TV executive is most likely Stelter himself. But no matter, as I’ve been telling you for years, the Jacobin left killed journalism long ago.

But will consumers of tainted political news agree that media is dead in the current form?

I think so, but it’s really not up to me alone.

It’s up to you. It’s your country too.

Vote like your country depends upon it, because it does. And if you wish to kneel the corporate media dunghill for three meals a day, please bring your own spoon.

So keep your head on a swivel. The Deep State rats are angry.

They don’t like being exposed.

But they do love to hide in the  garbage, where they’re hidden, where they feel safe.

I am 90 years old and fear for my children and grand children if sh wins, Oh, how sad if the far left has convinced too many to vote for her. All my children who are Republicans in the past have decided to vote for Harris due to the far left press ofChicago. Ouch!

I’m not worthy to be a contemporary of yours. Grain dust permeates these final days of psy op polls and poorly designed efforts to prop up Kamala by an ever increasing desperate Obama shadow government. Like you unloading in Lagos, I think im allergic to it! I’ll wait till 1:00 AM Wed. morning to see if I need to take something for it!

  6. The Deep State, like the wholly owned subsidiary of Planned Parenthood that has owned Democrat hypocrites like Biden, Pelosi, Leahy, Durbin, Casey, Quigley et al for two decades, will not bother paid off Democrat voters a jot.

    Take a look at lawns in the 19th Ward: east of Western Avenue the comfortable lace curtain Catholics with multiple government pensions and locked-in favors have Harris Walz blue signage and west of Western Ave. in homes owned by rank-and-file cops, firemen, city workers and skilled tradesmen might have a smattering of RED Trump/Vance signs, while most will lay-low.

    Tuesday will be very telling.

South side of 83rd was still “Johnny’s Farm” and none of the roads were paved yet – all tar and stones (and if a registered Democrat would call, they’d send out a load of cinders to try to deal with the big holes in the alley!) Our house was the last ‘in-house’ polling place, at least in the 18th….900 MOL voters, and our precinct captain, one Bill Burke, a court bailiff for his ‘real’ job, literally came around with hams and chickens in the trunk of his ’49 green beetle-back Buick, suggesting that it would ‘save his job’ if we all voted in the election. Lots of stories from when the polling place is in your basement……

    Our Deep State is so entrenched and self absorbed, that it would rather destroy America than to serve the American people. A vigorous debate and free elections are more important than ever. What you’ve written is so true.

I would just love to pull Sherman and little chinless Filip Sheridan up to the present and meet them in a bar, and watch then squeal like Solemeini and run like rats. You know, real tough guys who rape women and starve children.

    We of the South have been dealing with indoctrination for the better part of 200 years. Welcome.

Those that are ignoring the Russia hoax, the intent of the China virus, the spy balloon, the Bidens on the take and so much more evil behavior remind me of young parents with undisciplined misbehaving kids. They pretend to be distracted with something other than dealing with the kids. So the kids and left actually learn the allowable limits and push them even further. When the left is confronted with real evidence of the problem, the solution seems to be “but Trump is worse.”

  21. Another irreplaceable Kass column here — but recall how loud the howl was, just four years ago, to cancel his writing. The Chicago Tribune Guild, barking seals of dogmatic-left politics and trained by high school faculties through journalism schools like Northwestern’s, demanded Kass’ removal for exposing the truth of the Soros-sponsored campaign for open jails. Soon enough, they got it.

    But Kass set up his own shop . . . as the Tribune withered into woke irrelevance and Chicago kept sinking into an Obama-Soros crime scene.

    One quality strikes me as most important to the Kass victory, and it’s not just old-school journalistic standards or accurate reporting of current events and history. It’s courage — the courage to fight through the onslaught of threats and lies directed at every opponent of Deep State authoritarianism.

    Courage, fellow members of the JKN community! We have a great model for it. Just my take, but I think he was right to take his keyboard to Indiana.

  26. Spot on. I see a trend where websites like yours, podcasts and alternative media platforms are replacing traditional news.

    Even Comcast is thinking about jettisoning MSNBC because it doesn’t think it has a future in the future streaming market. CNN is in the same situation as with Warner Brothers Discovery.

    They will fade and your media will prosper.

    Spot on analogy of the rats emerging from their deep state lairs, with no place to hide! A few now, are even turning on one another – eating each other – just like the rats they truly are. As Obama continues to try to reverse the slide of Joe’s presidency, he has had to show his fingers in all of this subterfuge. Of course your loyal readers have known this for years, that Barry was behind it all, like the wizzard of oz, pulling the strings, as he hid behind the curtain. But no longer. Thank God for the widsom of your brother Niko, and your prowess as a journalist….yes, a real journalist. That old rag you worked for is sinking faster than the rats! I say good riddance!!

  31. My understanding is the “deep state” refers to our nation’s security apparatus i.e. NSA, CIA etc. specifically the concerns the Church Committee exposed over 50 years ago. Based upon my experience in the federal bureaucracy, one can totally get rid of the so called “deep state” and still be faced with policies emanating from unelected bureaucrats – insulated from the will of the people – in the administrative state: the vast and numerous executive agencies in the federal bureaucracy who in fact – like the Fed for instance – have absolutely nothing to do with national security. We saw this explicit abuse during the pandemic: mandates with the force of law from the CDC, OSHA, as well as the POTUS himself (loan forgiveness). If not for the Court, these inane mandates would have stood as law. My point is that the perpetrators of the majority of our “laws” and “policies” do not emanate from the so called security “deep state” (nor from our Congress) but rather from the vast federal network of executive (and in fact independent) agencies known as the administrative state. And the vast majority of Democrats wholly and enthusiastically support such a system.

    1. Bruce, you are correct. The Deep State is the Head of the Bureaucracy or Administrative State- all unelected and living off the taxes of Americans (both good citizens and chumbalones). Even a Trump administration will not be able to stop it, just slow it down for a time. It will take courageous people in the states to force Congress to undo the mess (a willing Senate and House as well as president.

      1. Steve: I agree with your implication that it will take Congress to undue the mess. A large part of problem is that Congress has willingly delegated much of its power to the administrative state. Hey this way, Congressman can take credit for successful initiatives and ALWAYS blame failure when it occurs on the “faceless” bureaucrats (the pandemic is a case in point and ironically as per Dr. Fauci vice versa). The Congressional Review Act of 1996 was meant to reestablish the Congress as the representatives of the people and as such ultimately in charge (as per our constitutional structure) and therefore could reverse any agency rule or regulation. In the subsequent 28 years following its passage only 20 rules have been reversed compared to the literally tens of thousands that have been promulgated.

        As for Trump, if he gets in, the bureaucrats will do exactly what I did when I was a federal employee: outlast him. It’s really as simple as that.

  38. John, thank you for such excellent writing. Spot on about the Deep State and the associated Bureaucracy as the real enemy of our freedoms. Alas, a Trump win is only a delay of their game unless the apparatus is dismantled piece by piece, starting with the Deep State head. Does the nation have sufficient will to act in such a way before it is too far beyond accomplising? Also, the other question is will the outside enemies if the US wait quietly while such a dismantling occurs? Keep highlighting the truth! It truly is what can set us and keep us free!

  40. I don’t watch “60 Minutes” anymore, but tuned in last night to see how they would frame the upcoming election. It was all Trump…Trump this, Trump that….Nothing about the ruinous, constitutionally criminal acts of the democrat party for the last 4 years.

    They are desperate…many talking heads are calling it a close contest but that is the easy way to talk about it without being called wrong on Wednesday morning.

    I see it (without being too cocky) as a landslide victory….in a message to clean up this country and discharge as many democrat/leftist/globalists as possible in the four short years we will have.
