  1. As part of my son’s stag party we got a private tour of the Malort distillery (someone knew someone). Do you realize they actually put sugar in that stuff? If you think Malort is tough to drink try drinking it as it comes out of the still before they sweeten it!

    1. Enjoyed the podcast. Good to hear you both. Like the details of “The Fall” i.e. stroke. Yikes! Your guardian angels were with you that night!

  2. John: I think you’re too tough on the folks who did not vote, out of fear, for Paul Vallas. With all due respect you yourself decamped from our insane state and city to avoid it’s deadly contagions. So give ‘em a break.

I agree that Dr. Alwady was wrong early on in particular with regard to the lake front closures. But in March of 2020 there was a lot we did not know about the virus. Of course to keep them closed until Feb 2021 – despite data suggesting that outdoor activity was low risk as well as beneficial – was surely inappropriate. But her dismissal by Mayor Johnson clearly is payback – as you point out – for the doctor’s insistence of opening up the schools in defiance of the CTU. One thing I can assure you though. Contrary to your opinion that Mayor Johnson ruined her reputation, her reputation in no way is diminished by her being trashed by Mayor Johnson. On the contrary it is very likely enhanced. She will have no problem seeking future employment either in the public sector, university, or even in private practice. I say this as a physician myself … with over 40 years of practice. So shed no tears for her.

Mayor Johnson did show us who he is. He is a magician or wizard if you will, in that he has me yearning – and I bet many others – for the halcyon days of Lori Lightfoot. I never imagined that could be even remotely possible.

Anyway. Glad your OK. Stay hydrated (alcohol is a diuretic).
