Chicago Way w/John Kass: Brandon Johnson is a disaster for CPS students
Chicago Way w/John Kass (10/07/24): On this episode, Ted Dabrowski of Wirepoints.org joins John Kass & Jeff Carlin to talk about how Chicago’s school system fails its students and is driving the city off a financial cliff as Mayor Brandon Johnson pushes CPS CEO Pedro Martinez out. Plus, Kasso wonders what monster will replace the Chicago Board of Education now that everyone has resigned?

I’ll write a full column on failing Brandon for Wednesday. He didn’t do the work, he gets an F
Not sure what you’re so worked up about. The new Board members are perfectly suited to do the Mayor’s bidding, make irresponsible financial decisions and then fade into darkness, never to be seen.
For 25 years we have recognized outstanding teachers at Amundsen High School with cash awards. This school has climbed from “almost closed” to a top rated community high school. The teachers here, teach!
The CTU vigorously fought the beginning of this award program…”All teachers are certified, all teachers are equal” was their position. Mayor Daley sided with us, thank God, and several million has been awarded to teachers and student scholarships over the years. The CTU is intent on “dumbing down” the system and erasing merit and initiative from our teachers. Dan & Pat Jorndt
One point the Mayor made yesterday was the legacy of Arne Duncan and Paul Vallas, which I don’t know much about. I think he was talking about the poor financial condition of CPS. He also mentioned, I believe, the detrimental effect of “scoop and throw” financing – paying off low interest debt with junk debt – as well as previous administrations’ selling off public assets, like the Skyway bridge and parking meters. I think this all goes to Daley?
So sad to see him bring up Slavery and the Confederacy. He is so far down this rabbit hole, that there is very little chance of him ever being effective.
Meaning – if he was on the ball, he would hire Paul Vallas!
When in doubt whip the race card out! Al Sharpton would be proud.
Regarding the hour long + coverage of Brandon Johnson’s Appointments Program on WGN of October 7, 2024:
Who ordered this combative and lengthy coverage? This seemed little more than propaganda. Did the advertisers approve of this use of their paid air-time during a news broadcast?
WGN is a disgrace.
Pat,
I used to watch WGN for years but I had to turn them off because of their left leaning coverage.
Paul Liznek is the worst as a so called political reporter, he makes me ill. They really are an extension of the Trib.
Γιάννη & Τζεφ,
It’s over boys. I don’t see Chicago recovering from decades of socialist (dem) controls, from the CTU to every corner of city government or administration – at least in our lifetimes! It’s not “progressive-ism,” it’s pure socialism, enslaving all to their whim and will. The fat cats keep getting fat at our expense. There’s no incentive to educate kids, cause they might wake up and upset the powers that be, biting the hand that feeds!! Just let them grow up ignorant and needy to ensure they will be controlled and obedient minions of the Chicago Way!! They’ll either end up on the streets or in prison – assuming any Soros prosecutors would ever incarcerate any. Will the last one out the door please turn off the lights?
Congrats to all the Chicagoans who voted for this tool – now you have to live with him. This is also on all the people who didn’t bother to go out and vote, allowing the Teacher’s Union to be the main reason for this guy to be in charge. He’s a disgrace – but you all voted for him – enjoy!
