Jeff and John are ignoring some very sobering political arithmetic that fully accounts for Mr. Biden’s cowardly abandonment of Israel. Even if American Jews largely abandoned the Democratic Party in outrage – as unlikely as it is – it would not make a difference … at least not in 2024. Why? Because most Jews live in big cities such as NYC, Chicago, LA, San Francisco and Boston. And those cities are all in deep blue states. So abandonment of the Democratic Party by Jews would have no meaningful effect upon those states electoral votes. Those votes remain in the Democratic column regardless. Contrast that with the situation in swing state Michigan that has a significant Arab American population. Those Arab Americans, if unlikely to vote for Mr. Trump might plausibly – to express their anger at Mr. Biden’s perceived Israeli favoritism – not vote at all, thereby turning the state’s electoral votes over to Mr. Trump. And very possibly the Presidency as well. Politically speaking those Arab Americans are much more important for Mr. Biden’s success in November 2024 than Jewish Democratic votes. It seems clear what Mr. Biden is going to do if he wants to win the Presidency: abandon Israel with little to no meaningful consequences.
