  1. John, A year ago I was hoping things would calm down if Trump won the election, stupid me. Just the opposite has happened. In June we moved to Wheeling as our family moved to Northbrook, kindergarten for our grandson. At least we are out of the city. I will admit ICE is an ugly solution to deportation, the pictures of armed law enforcement apprehending undocumented Latinos, The NG being deployed, there has to be a better way. But the government cannot even function to stay open let alone do anything to Un document the literally millions here without status. Stopping the flow on the border was the first step, let’s figure a way to absorb the folks who want to stay here and become part of the American dream. The amount of $ we are spending on ICE could be better used to register and welcome the Latinos already here. We are a big country. We are a people who believe in social justice. If we are a Christian nation, which I think we are, we should be more like Jesus Christ; love God and love our neighbor. This is the only hope for us.
    I am an 83 year old retired Army Officer who loves America. We have lived in Chicago since 2016. Keep up the good work.

    1. David- 1st and foremost, thank you for your service. With all due respect, your idea to think of a way to “ absorb “ the remaining illegals in the country only fosters more illegal immigration. Why should we reward individuals with citizenship who broke our laws and think it’s ok to cut the line in front of people who want to immigrate the right and lawful way? This current administration is already giving the illegals a way out to leave in a dignified manner by turning themselves in, registering, and giving them a plane ticket back to their country of origin. At that point, they can go to the back of the line, fill out the paperwork, and attempt to enter legally. ICE is here to pick up those who have already been given orders to leave, and are making the choice to refuse to do so.
      Furthermore, the NG has been sent here as a reaction to the failed leadership of our Governor, mayor, board members, and all other local elected officials who have ALL sworn an oath to our constitution and our laws as a nation, but cherry pick at the ones that they wish to enforce, and have failed their constituents.
      One final set of questions for you David. Do you have a lock on your doors? Do you have a fence around your property? Do you just let complete uninvited strangers into your home, then feed them, clothe them , and house them all at your own expense? Do you have house guests that never leave, and treat your house as it’s their house?
      I bet we all know the answer.

    2. First of all. thank you for your service. I see that you have moved farther from the city, Wheeling and Northbrook, you voted with your feet to protect yourself and family like many of us. My question to you is how do you absorb murderers, child rapists, gangbangers, and murderous dui drivers….the answer is you do not. I will gladly spend our tax money for immigration enforcement and incarceration. As far as ugly solutions solutions to deportation, it is the illegal aliens, not “undocumented Latinos” who are resisting justice and their mad Antifa co-conspirators attacking our lawful law enforcement. Their violence in lawful removal exposes why we do not want to absorb them.

    3. Here’s another, very sincere, thank you for your service. People like you are the reason why I never had to give up years to serve like my father and uncles and it is deeply appreciated.
      The first thing you can do to win any argument is to frame the terms of the argument. If your focus is on the illegal immigrants, their struggles, their hardships, and the ‘cruelty’ of mass deportation your point sounds reasonable and just. It’s not. Mass immigration without vetting let in hundreds of thousands [literally] of career criminals and gang members to inflict harm on US citizens. They have flooded the lower income job markets increasing competition for jobs and downward pressure on wages. Likewise, they are competing for low end housing and forcing up the prices for housing. They are jamming up the urgent cares and emergency rooms which function as their basic healthcare [often at taxpayer expense] and raise the cost and lower the quality of education by taking teacher time away from US citizens due to their lack of English language proficiency [I’m a teacher, I’ve seen this for 34 years]. That’s not to mention the diseases [human and animal] brought in by unvetted immigrants. It’s done huge harm to millions of US Citizens – without their consent. Mass deportation is the only really just choice when you consider the needs of our own people.

      1. And the Democrats will insist that they – illegal aliens – get the right to vote. And surprise, surprise who do you think they will be voting for? But even if they do not get that privilege, they will still adversely affect one of our foundational republican principles: “one man, one vote.” Since the census counts people and not citizens, and the census ultimately determines the distribution of electoral votes amongst the states as well as congressional representaion, the mere presence of illegal aliens will affect the electoral college as well as representation in the House. And this is likely to heavily favor “blue states.” Deportation is the only remedy.

    4. This reminds me of Hitlers SA brown shirts beating up German Jewish citizens and stopping Germans from buying from Jewish stores. Jews were fired from govt., university and hospital positions. It looks very bad as far as PR.
      GOP may pay big time in midterms.

  2. The Great Myth pushed by the media is ” ..separating children from their parents..” Repeated endlessly by our media and it’s sycophants and ” activists”. A myth. If your parent who entered this country illegally and refuses to leave is captured ( yes, captured) you have the choice to leave with that parent. If you choose not to, WHO MADE THE CHOICE TO SEPARATE YOU FROM YOUR PARENT.

    1. Separating children from parents during an arrest IS LEGAL SOP. Do you leave a parent with a child if parent is abusing child or wife or girl friend or selling drugs or robbing etc. No you separate them for the safety of the child(ren).
