Chicago Way w/John Kass: Alder pulls back the curtain on Mayor Johnson’s patronage scheme
Chicago Way w/John Kass (05/12/25): This week, Ald. Ray Lopez (15th) joins John Kass & Jeff Carlin to look at why he thinks Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson perpetuating a patronage scheme by steering ‘PlayStreets’ contracts away from Latino wards and into wards where Mayor Johnson is trying to curry favor. Also, Ald. Lopez also hints at what it would take for him to run for mayor. Plus, Kasso wonders if there is a cure for Chicago’s dying legacy media?

Good morning John. People do not seem to care about what is happening to our Cities and Country.
So glad to be out of the mess we are in. Good Luck. Done, done, done.
A 2 minute story dragged out for 44 minutes.
Can’t you provide transcript so your loyal supporters can get thru it faster.
I agree with Thomas. I don’t listen to podcasts because I am hard of hearing and need closed captions, so a transcript of the podcasts would be a big plus for myself and I bet a few more. I do enjoy reading John Kass.
Would love a transcript or a written version of the podcasts. I often have time to read through something like that when I’m waiting for a ZOOM call to start, or when I can fit it in….sitting and listening non-stop to 45 minutes of chatter is sometimes do-able, but often is not. Would love the information without the extra talk.
Yianni,
Mayor Pannix is simply channeling Mayor Daley, Senior – who perfected “patronage management” in Chicago for decades, and remains staunchly in place yet today – although inherited and perfected by successive occupants on the 5th floor. Never gonna change as long as rewards are continually bestowed on obedient vassals of the party. Regardless of escalating crime, influx of illegals, it’s the status quo in city government! Those of us that can, have already moved away, and those of us that can’t, are done for.
